Starting with ODubs' list and adjusting it for my mind garden...
tribe called quest[/b] 1. low end theory 2. midnight marauders 3. people's instinctive travels... 4. love movement 5. beats, rhymes and life
I never could get into Beats Rhymes and Life, I like a few tracks on there ( I think 3 at most) and the rest is eh... I am probably one of the few that liked love movement, and it was mainly because of the production.
gangstarr[/b] 1. daily operation 2. step in the arena 3. hard to earn 4. no more mr. nice guy 5. the ownerz 6. moment of truth
Daily operation is straight dope to me. I had it on blast when it came out for months... Time and place has a lot to do with my ordering for all these lists, and that album had a bigger impact on me than the other ones, hence its number 1 placement.
masta ace[/b] 1. slaughtahouse 2. sittin on chrome 3. take a look around 4. long hot summer 5. disposable arts
Slaughtahouse is just a classic, plain and simple. Sittin On Chrome was a solid summer rotation in the whip. The heavy samples on that album fit perfectly with the nice hot humid Ohio summers
public enemy[/b] 1. it takes a nation of millions 2. yo! bum rush the show 3. fear of a black planet 4. apocalypse 91 5. greatest misses 6. everything else...
This is the hardest group for me to categorize. Their first 3 albums were put together so well (even the cruder feeling, but more in your face Yo!) that I kind of group them all together as their best work. I like Yo! because they still had a bit of street in them and the revolutionary aspect wasn't really center stage. ITANMTHB was straight up revolutionary mindset, and Fearof a Black planet was the pinnacle of their strength through production and rhymes. By the time Apaocolypse came out the industry was changing and the album IMO just didn't have the same impact as their first three, although I like it more now than I remember liking it when it first dropped... Greatest Misses was eh, and everything after that was bought out of supporting the cause so to speak.
ice cube + dr. dre + nwa + related fam (1988-1993, no EPs, no 'Pac)[/b] 1. straight outta compton 1. death certificate 3. the chronic 4. doggystyle 4. no one can do it better 5. amerikkka's most wanted 7. niggaz4life 8. livin like hustlers 9. the predator 10. 100 Miles and Running
Death Certificate to me is probably one of the best albums created IMO. The fact that its a storyline from start to finish that actually made sense... And the production on the album combined with Cube's writing (his pinnacle IMO), was untouched by anything after and anything before (outside of Straight Outta Compton).
2Pac
1. Strictly For My N.I.G.G.A.Z. 2. Me Against The World 3. All Eyes On Me 4. Makeveli
Strictly was a dope album and really introduced me to 2Pac as a rapper outside of his cameos with Digital Underground. Me Against the World just had solid production throughout and it was Pre-Thuglife every other sentence tupac so I could actually listen to his lyrics... After that his work tends to blend together.
The Coup 1. Kill My Landlord 2. Genocide & Juice 3. Steal This Album 4. Party Music
Redman 1. Muddy Waters 2. Whut? Thee Album 3. Dare Iz A Darkside 4. Doc's Da Name 5. Malpractice
Wu-Tang Clan 1. 36 Chambers 2. Forever 3. The W 4. Iron Flag
36 Chamber-Forever Wu Solos 1. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... 2. Liquid Swords 3. Ironman 4. Return To The 36 Chambers 5. Tical
Tha Alkaholiks 1. Coast II Coast 2. 21 & Over 3. Likwidation 4. X.O. Experience
G-Unit Solos 1. The Documentary 2. Get Rich Or Die Tryin' 3. Straight Outta Cashville 4. The Massacre 5. The Hunger For More 6. Thoughts Of A Predicate Felon
The Beatnuts 1. Stone Crazy 2. Street Level (S/T) 3. Intoxicated Demons EP 4. Musical Massacre 5. Take It Or Squeeze It 6. Milk Me
Nas 1. Illmatic 2. It Was Written 3. The Lost Tapes 4. Stillmatic 5. God's Son 6. Street's Disciple 7. I Am... 8. Nastradamus
Jay-Z 1. Reasonable Doubt 2. The Black Album 3. The Blueprint 4. Vol. 1 5. Vol. 3 6. Blueprint 2 7. Roc La Familia 8. Vol. 2
De La Soul 1. De La Soul Is Dead 2. 3 Feet High & Rising 3. The Grind Date 4. Buhloone Mind State 5. Bionix 6. Stakes Is High 7. Mosaic Thump

DJ Quik 1. Rhythm-al-ism 2. Safe & Sound 3. Quik Is Tha Name 4. Trauma 5. Way 2 Fonky 6. Balance & Options 7. Under Tha Influence

EPMD 1. Strictly 2. As Usual 3. Unfinished 4. Never Personal 5. Back In 6. Out Of

M.O.P. 1. To The Death 2. First Family 4 Life 3. Warriorz 4. Firing Squad 5. that album that came the last couple of years
but S/LB and Stankonia are worlds apart from their first three, it's hard to put them in the same list.
ATCQ 1. Midnight Marauders 1. The Low End Theory 3. Beats Rhymes and Life 4. People's Instinctive blah blah blah 5. Love Mov...naw, fuck that one. yeah.
Gangstarr 1. Daily Operation 2. Hard to Earn 3. Moment of Truth 4. Arena 5. Ownerz
much cuz I got into rap late and my ears are more tuned to that Moment of Truth shit. Ownerz was the last time I got excited about Premo and there are some real bangers on there.
Mobb Deep 1. The Infamous 2. Hell On Earth. 3. Juvenile Hell. 4. Free Agents(Murder Mix Tape). 5. Murda Muzik.
that's about right. the Free Agents tape is and the album it came with isn't nearly as good. "backwards," "shoot em up," that jam with 50...
DITC 1. O.C. - Word...........Life 2. Show and AG - Runaway Slave 3. Lord Finesse - Funky Technician 4. Big L - Lifestylez 5. O.C. - Jewelz
good look to whoever gave the inital shout to Jewelz. it's that Nas situation, if dude didn't have to live up to his first album, it would get more love. (Primo in full effect + Freddie Foxxx + Big L sayin he's "fat like an old crayon")
Wu-Tangery 1. Supreme Clientele 2. Iron Man 3. Cuban Linx 4. The Pillage (yeah I said it) 5. 36 Chambers
Nas 1. Illmatic 2. The Lost Tapes 3. It Was Written 4. Stillmatic 5. God's Son 6. Street's Disciple 7. I Am... 8. Nastradamus
1. SOM - 93 til infinity 2. Casual - Fear Itself 3. Del - No need for alarm 4. Del - wish my brother george 5. Hiero - 3rd eye vision

(Funny what a big movement these guys spawned and yet the Fellowship itself still boasts the best, most durable material of anyone else involved with them.)
Oh and by the way, Ghost's best album is PRETTY TONEY!
I can only speculate about how many people are reading through these lists with their eyes rolling out of their head. Take this with all love since I know not everyone would agree with my choices but some of ya'll are out of your fucking minds.
1) One Day It'll All Make Sense 2) Like Water For Chocolate 3) Ressurection 4) Electric Circus (neosoul disguised as hiphop) 5) Can I Borrow A Dollar 6) Be
epmd[/b] -business as usual -strictly business -business never personal -unfinished business ("wasn't me it was the fame" and "time to party" [/b]moved this down) -back in business -out of business
1. Big L - Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous 2. Lord Finesse - Return of The Funkyman 3. Showbiz & AG - Runaway Slave 4. Lord Finesse - Funky Technician 5. Diamond D - Stunts Blunts & Hip Hop
1. Diamond - stunts blunts 2. showbiz & ag runaway slave 3. Showbiz & AG - party groove EP 4. Lord Finesse - Funky Technician 5. Lord Finesse- Return... 6. O.C.- word life 7. Fat Joe- represent
gangstarr[/b]-(this is so fucking easy) 1. step in the arena 2. hard to earn 3. moment of truth 4. daily operation 5. no more mr. nice guy 6. the ownerz
nice. on the money. but daily op should have had dwyck, which would have put it above hard to earn
actually: 1.step 2.moment of truth 3.hard to earn 4.daily operation 5.no mor emr nice guy
i think the production is probably the worst out of those five, but i'm more likely to want to listen to lifestylez than any of em just because i like L's rapping so much more than those other dudes.

Finally somebody else mentions Da Gangsta. IMO I like it better than most of the D.I.T.C stuff because production on it is also the way he rhymes sounds tough. But still very hard to put DITC in order.
1. Big Daddy Kane "Long Live The Kane" 2. Biz Markie "Goin' Off" 3. Kool G Rap & DJ Polo "Road To The Riches" 4. Master Ace "Take A Look Around" 5. MC Shan "Down By Law"
1 Del - no need for alarm 2 Casual - fear itself 3 Souls - 93 till infinity 4 Domino - physical funk 5 Del - I wish my brother george was here (......uhoh)

I would probably put some of those Ghostface mixtapes with unreleased cuts at least at #7 on this list, maybe higher... but since they aren't official albums I'll just give them a mention here at #10.
D.I.T.C. 1. Diamond- Stunts Blunts 2. Showbiz & A.G.- Runaway Slave after that I'm not sure, but DEFINITELY those are 1 and 2.
People on here really love that De La "Buhloone" album, don't they? So interesting. Maybe I'm not as crazy about it because I first heard it from one of those Tommy Boy advance cassettes that they gave to journalists... you know, the ones with the barnyard noises all over it. I need to listen to it again sans the moos and oinks... doubt that I'd change my rankings, but I still need to listen again anyway.
