yeah, thats pretty much it. its just a pain in the ass to deal with and it didnt really have any redeeming features for me to keep it. the 2000xl has plenty of sampling time for me, so really the s5000 has just been collecting dust since i picked it up about 3 years ago.
i had a 3000 but had to sell it. i would like to get on back. i needed money and i knew i could get more for it than i could the xl, so off it went. sad day that was.
I guarantee you, drums sampled on the ASR-10 will take 2 shits on some weak ass MPC drums. Yes,

Far as it shittin on anything, if your tracking your super fat snares & double doo-doo kicks to digital this whole argument is irrelevant... I guarantee you. Drums tracked to a tape machine thru nice analog board/pre's will shit on every single one of your machines tracked in proTools.
Though in mid-late 90's dude was the hook-up for MPC's on the cheap. Grey market Akai gear with the exchange rate at the time = good deal. I copped an MPC 2000 brand new in box for around $700 off him, this is when they 1st came out. (later sold it for $900, cha-ching).
The MV8000 has been swapped for an MPC3000LE which I only did cos it was a good deal. My main piece is the 60 though, got that in March and had to buy all the upgrades for it inc. RAM (Which I've only just ordered!) I haven't delved into the SP properly yet and I also have another RZ1 and an S950
word to analog japan having the cheap prices, I noticed their ads back in future music '99 and they were good deals even then, alas no more!!!
