this shit is like the whiteboy modern soul. I'm up on all the obvious things (Liquid Liquid, ESG, A Certain Ratio)but what else is good?Is the majority of this stuff out of the UK & NY, or was there LA based funky post punk too?

Familiarize yourself with Gang Of Four (Entertainment, Solid Gold, and s/t yellow cover ep all rock to me)

You should also own Richard Hell and The Saints and shit even though that's not exactly post punk with funky tinges. You should actually strike that phrase from your lexicon

Not sure what your definition of funky post punk is but in real life (or better on the dancefloor) it was a mix of ESG, Liquid Liquid, Gang Of Four, New Order, A Certain Ratio, 400 Blows, Pig Bag, Rip, Rig & Panic, Yello, Depeche Mode, Malcolm McLaren, Grace Jones, Bauhaus, Indeep, Talking Heads, Grandmaster Flash, Blondie and so on. Information on music was limited to reading UK mags like NME but it seems to me that there wasn't that much records released in "this style". I would say that changes to find any post punk raer that is funky too are limited. Don't know if it is because I'm German but we were digging British stuff more than US stuff during that time.
