Tonto's Expanding Head Band - Zero Time - Atlantic UK[/b]
Nice daytrip!!
Thanks again to Ginsburg for the tip (and Soul Strut just for bein' here)!
Did some scouring of the city on bike, came up on some garage sales, finally picked up "Dujii" 45 by Kool & the Gang, and realized not only did it exceed all expectations, but contains a sample from a Babu tape (Comprehension) that I used to rock way back. I normally don't go for Kool & the Gang, but that Hohner keyboard sound they use on that cut kills it. Today was also a day for nice pieces missing their covers, grabbed Sheba Baby OST and D. Coffey Goin For Myself both w/out covers... and the Sheba was pretty mashed...
I did surprisingly well. I got my bike tuned up. Ate some dim sum, rode about 10 miles on the bike path along Lake Champlain, on the way home I hit up an antique shop that had a tag sale a block from my house. I caught three Roy Ayers records.
-He's Coming
-Everybody Loves The Sunshine
-Red, Green, & Black
And I got a decent bossa scat jazz dance LP.
-Janet Lawson Quintet (The track "so high" is dope).
And after a painless trip to Home Depot I built my new gallery wine cellar shelves. I'm stoked this wall is finally alive with color.
Pat Williams-threshold (nice drumbreak) Michael Smith- reflection on progress Zebras NTSU- (crazy moog high school band lp) Rush Hour- great expectations (small label jazz) Russ Vines and the Contemporary Music Ensemble- (another small label jazz lp) and finally found some funky gospel rekkids- Pilgrim Jubilees "come together" Essence- "sinner man" Supreme Highlights- "cross jordan" The Pentecostal Ambassadors- "lord you're the one" they're all on Savoy, and all have their funky moments and a few other things...
I found nothing except a Jimmy Castor Bunch "It's Just Begun" 12" mixed by Larry Levan on Salsoul, but I found it in my own collection while looking for something else.
I been scouring a "new" spot for the past week and a half... made good friends with the owners, and have been drinkin Busch and smokin doobs with em while I dig. Ive finished the whole store now, but I'll be returning for more doobs n beer in the near future.
