One of my most heartbreaking "missing the LP" finds, ever. I let out a very loud yipe that scared nearby diggers.

I checked over 200 lps in the region I found it with no misplaced LP in sight, mega-sigh.

If you have the LP but am missing this sleeve, I will gladly buy it off you.

    Heartbreaking coffee stains, too.

First off, immense SHOUT OUT to strutter Ginsburg for the tip on the Providence Record Show today...I made the 45 minute drive down from Boston and came up lovely[/b]:

all from the Providence show -

These were all $1.50[/b], these guys had boxes of radio station records for $2 apiece but I got all of these for $30 even:

Donald Austin - Crazy Legs - Eastbound WLP (minor warp, but FUCK!!)

Johnny Watson Trio - In a Fats Bag - Okeh

Freddie Hubbard - Red Clay - CTI WLP

Captain Sky - Adventures Of - AVI

Black Ivory - Feel It - Buddah

Spooky Tooth/Pierre Henry - Ceremony - Island UK

    The Mg's - S/T - Stax

Lou Donaldson - Cosmos - Blue Note (so dope)

Solar Source - Now's the Time - AVI

Lee Hazlewood - Houston - Harmony

Lou Donaldson - Alligator Boogaloo - Blue Note

Fantastic Four - Night People - Westbound

    The Illusion - S/T - Steed

Eddie Harris - That Is Why You're Overweight - Atlantic

The Counts - Love Sign - Aware

Young Holt Unlimited - Funky But! - Brunswick yellow label promo

Johnny Guitar Watson - Blues Soul of - Chess (1st press promo!!)

Jackie McLean - Demon's Dance - Blue Note

    Quincy Jones - Smackwater Jack - A&M

    Cymande - S/T - Janus (double)

Al Hirt - Soul in the Horn - RCA

Freddie Hubbard - The Black Angel - Atlantic [/b]

Paid another guy $23 for these:

Marvin Gaye - Trouble Man OST - Tamla

Barry White - Together Brothers OST - 20th Century (dope!!)

Joe Thomas Group - Coming Home - Cobblestone

Lamont Dozier - Out Here On My Own - ABC

O.V. Wright - Gone For Good - Charly UK (nice anthology)

Shirley Brown - Woman to Woman - Truth

    Temptations - 1990 - Gordy WLP

    [/b]

    $2 apiece:

Curtis Mayfield - Roots - Curtom [/b](no calendar, but mine was a reissue, so a nice upgrade)

Jerome Richardson - Groove Merchant - Verve

    [/b]These were $1:

Funkadelic - Connections & Disconnections - LAX sealed

    Kinks - Arthur - Reprise

Funky Four + 1 More - Rappin and Rocking the House - Enjoy [/b](double)

Holger Czukay - On the Way to the Peak of Normal - EMI Germany

[/b]And on the way out, I still had $10 and was feeling so good about my scores, I splurged and dropped the ten on a mint semi-original (not Embryo) UK press of:

Tonto's Expanding Head Band - Zero Time - Atlantic UK[/b]

    Nice daytrip!!

Thanks again to Ginsburg for the tip (and Soul Strut just for bein' here)!

  • Did some scouring of the city on bike, came up on some garage sales, finally picked up "Dujii" 45 by Kool & the Gang, and realized not only did it exceed all expectations, but contains a sample from a Babu tape (Comprehension) that I used to rock way back. I normally don't go for Kool & the Gang, but that Hohner keyboard sound they use on that cut kills it. Today was also a day for nice pieces missing their covers, grabbed Sheba Baby OST and D. Coffey Goin For Myself both w/out covers... and the Sheba was pretty mashed...

I did surprisingly well. I got my bike tuned up. Ate some dim sum, rode about 10 miles on the bike path along Lake Champlain, on the way home I hit up an antique shop that had a tag sale a block from my house. I caught three Roy Ayers records.

    -He's Coming

    -Everybody Loves The Sunshine

    -Red, Green, & Black

And I got a decent bossa scat jazz dance LP.

-Janet Lawson Quintet (The track "so high" is dope).

And after a painless trip to Home Depot I built my new gallery wine cellar shelves. I'm stoked this wall is finally alive with color.

    some common classic joints

Made a few real world moves earlier today-

    Pat Williams-threshold (nice drumbreak)
    Michael Smith- reflection on progress
Zebras NTSU- (crazy moog high school band lp)
Rush Hour- great expectations (small label jazz)
Russ Vines and the Contemporary Music Ensemble- (another small label jazz lp)
and finally found some funky gospel rekkids-
    Pilgrim Jubilees "come together"
    Essence- "sinner man"
    Supreme Highlights- "cross jordan"
The Pentecostal Ambassadors- "lord you're the one"
they're all on Savoy, and all have their funky moments
    and a few other things...

I found nothing except a Jimmy Castor Bunch "It's Just Begun" 12" mixed by Larry Levan on Salsoul, but I found it in my own collection while looking for something else.

I been scouring a "new" spot for the past week and a half... made good friends with the owners, and have been drinkin Busch and smokin doobs with em while I dig. Ive finished the whole store now, but I'll be returning for more doobs n beer in the near future.
