I expect to see them both join Talksport in the near future. Always had an intense dislike of Keys, couldn't have happened to a more deserving fellow. Props to Ruud for a rare celebrity showing of the tried and tested play-with-the-mobile-to-avoid-uncomfortable-situation. The emergency replacement in the studio last night was the ever reliable Stelling accompanied by Merson which was certainly different.
Touching on the weightier issues for a second, it would seem to defy all common sense for the Government to do anything to damage the cash cow they currently have with alcohol, tobacco etc. Not in anyway saying it's right but I would be astonished if they fiddled with one of the few industries currently bringing in the money.
Wifebeating cokehead Merson? Another pillar of society
LOL. The Sky Sports Saturday line up is like a roll call of "rehabilitated" footballers these days, all blinking in the headlights. On the plus side Merson is a walking, mumbling, example for children today that drugs are bad. The guy is a moron but I guess at least he's not a sanctimonious bellend who has been foolishly convinced that he's been suppressing his inner intellect ala Donkey (I wear glasses therefore I am clever) Adams
I'm thinking Duder worked some voodoo by posting all those videos of screeeemers yesterday.
With that in mind...
Least surprising moment of the clip is Bendtner missing a header from a few yards out at the beginning.
Was this the most recent league victory we've had over them? :shut: When do Man U visit us? Soon?
Would you smash it?
Oh dear.

They're going to privatise forests instead. First step, the New Forest will be renamed the Mc Forest. Then trees will be turned into advertisements. A Micky Dee's will be erected at the centre, you know, for the benefit of the public. Horses, deer and boar will slowly vanish, while the menu starts offering the Mc Cheval etc, and once the advertisements are vandalised by angry walkers, the Forest will be closed to the public, and some Academy schools specialising in fast food and logging will be set up... for the benefit of the public.

Female referees. Would that see the end of chants (who ate all the pies/fat wanker)? Or would it supply the crowd with more chants?
I'm sure some of you will be delighted to learn that Gary Neville is the bookie's choice to get Gray's gig.
Yeah I saw that on the news this morning. I don't really know what to think about it apart from thankful that this should hopefully mean he:
a) Won't be playing for us anymore
b) Won't be taking on any kind of coaching/managerial role at the club.
This whole thing has thrown a spanner in the works of my plan to cancel my sky sports. I in absolutely no way want it to look like a protest over the removal of the two tosspots.
I could never endure two hours of Thoughtways??? from the one NEVILLE.
He's been a good player, but his rabid hatred for the blue side of town makes him an instant switchoff. I'd rather be rhaped by the animated cadaver of John Holmes than listen to another pundit big up U*ited at every chance. They are the best side in the league, but I don't want to be told this all the f*cking time - Sir Baconface still won't be inviting you for a glass of claret anytime soon.

Looking on the more positive sides of things, it would hopefully mean that all the youths that loiter in the local McDonald's in town would have somewhere new to hang out.
They've definitely got the wrong Neville there, Aaron and Phil would both be better. Phil comes across very well in interviews.
Soccer Saturday > any other football programme. Its a train wreck in the best possible way.
Unbelievable Geoff. i just wish Sky Sports News was still part of my cable package :-(

See, this is why, for all its flaws, the BBC is better than Sky. They wouldn't for a second even contemplate giving Neville a pundit/analyst's gig, even if he had a more engaging manner than any ex-pro who'd made the move into TV. How are you going to claim objectivity if you give a job to someone who was filmed singing, "Without killing anyone, we won it three times" at the moment of one of his greatest professional achievements?
I guess it depends what you're looking for really. The problem I have with most of the BBC co-commentators and pundits is that they are so unbiased they don't seem to have any views at all. People like Shearer and Dixon are basically a waste of sofa space and Hansen and Lawrenson just roll out the same tired clich??s on autopilot (something I was also sick of with Gray who was a genuinely interesting pundit for years).

The most obvious candidate to replace Keys would be James Richardson, who seems to be hidden away on BBC SW at the moment. Sharp, entertaining and authoritative, and with a knowledge of the game in Europe that extends a bit further than Sky's CL coverage. He ought to be on MOTD, but that's not likely while the special friends club remains in effect. Amongst ex-pros, I've always liked Pat Nevin, also underused by the BBC. Good, intelligent player (the only Evertonian I'd have put in any Liverpool side from the same era), and no less intelligent as an analyst. To be honest, I'd be happy with anyone who wasn't an irritating twat and who knew what they were on about. I'm assured by United fans that Neville comes across as quite insightful and credible, even if he isn't particularly likeable - "He's got a personality," said one United fan I mentioned it to, "It's just not a pleasant one".
What I don't want to see is anything like that RTE shite some people keep banging on about, where you have to endure blowhard never-weres like Eamonn Dunphy going on about how such-and-such is crap under the guise of being forthright, before turing round and brazenly saying the complete opposite three months later after it's become apparent that he hasn't got a fucking clue what he's on about, and never did to begin with. The thing about that lark is that it's always possible to end up with something much worse than the crap you're already putting up with.
God I would love to see James Richardson on there, his football podcasts are one of the highlights of the week and I continued watching Football Italia well after the gloss of 0-0 matches had worn off due to the amount of wit and insight he brought to it. Would actually make the Sunday round up worth watching beyond oohing and ahing at the big touch screen telly.
The fact that he was never in the running for MOTD2 and they went for Murray still makes me cry a little inside.
I've never been a fan of Neville despite my alliances but I would defend him to say he's not the total moron his on the pitch performances may suggest. I'd still prefer someone who had been officially retired more than a season so that we don't get another Jamie C situation. Sadly once you remove those who aren't either brain damaged from bodily abuse or tainted by NotW revelations the list looks pretty short.
A big problem with getting good pundits and commentators on Sky Sports is that many seem to think it's their job to be cheerleaders for the Premier League.

Yeah can't really argue with that and there's undoubtedly a desire to convince people that this is The Best League In The World (which it actually is) though these days I think it's as much about trying to convince you that the sport you're watching, be it Premiership or other, is worth the fees coming out of your account any month. Something that's pretty hard to do as your eyes glaze over at the second half of Wigan V Blackburn or you're confronted by a prime time evening of Rugby and European Tour Golf.
Does anyone tune in for the build-up during games or stay seated during half-time to see what the panel are going to say??
I watch the game and that's it..the in game commentary is bad enough..Pleat,Earle,Smith,Ekoku etc..
Don't want to see him go (let alone to Chelsea of all teams), but we should have no problem getting new quality players for $50 M GPB elsewhere

At this perilously late stage in the window? I have my doubts. Comolli will need to be a miracle worker to pull an adequate replacement out of the bag before tomorrow night. I'd have no misgivings about Anelka coming back as part of a cash+player deal, but Chelsea still need to be aware that if they want Torres, they pay plenty dolla.
Sad as I'll be to see him go (esp. to a Prem side), I think he may be making a big mistake going to Chelsea. They'll need to do some rebuilding of their own soon, and with UEFA's financial fair play rules coming in, it's clear that Abramovich is keen to do as many big deals as possible. They've already been knocked by Aguero, Godin and Luiz, so this might be Roman's final throw of the dice. He seems to think Nando is the player to help finally bring the CL trophy to Stamford Bridge, but I'm not so certain that this is the season they'll do it. Next season, he might either be a comparative youngster in an ageing squad, or a world-class performer surrounded by players who aren't as good as he is. If that turns out to be the case he may not be that much better off than he is now. A bit richer, perhaps, and probably an eternal pariah on the Red side of Liverpool, but not a lot else.
I still think that, on his day, Torres is arguably the best striker in the world or at least in the top three. On paper a Torres/Drogba front line is something to be feared but I also get the feeling that he's joining a team who are getting the wrong side of thirty and not really lining up replacements. As a Utd fan this whole situation obviously amuses me but I don't think it would be extremely damaging for Liverpool to lose him at this point in time.
As an Arsenal fan, it makes a nice change not to be reading about one or more of our best players rumoured to be going somewhere. Although one of our best needs to cut-out that card-waiving sh*t.

Only if Carlos Tevez gets to sit opposite him.
Or Jaap Stam.

Don't lie, it was the ice creams during the newspaper round-up.
I could see, would love to see, Richardson on MOTD, but the guy is too middle-class for sky sports.
He could try to overcompensate for his lack of lad credentials with some catchphrases like "Get in there", "Have that", or "Did you smash it?"

Spurs are looking for a striker.

I thought the statement that 'there is no value in the transfer market' was laughable right?
