I don't have cable so this doesn't happen to me. Not that I don't watch movies, they just tend to be things I have not seen or have not seen in a long time. Oh and F*ck TNT, 1 hour of commercials for 20 minutes of movie. I don't miss that shit at all.

font class="post"1b, 21b, 21There's a TV edit of Lebowski I saw on Comedy Central that was almost criminal. In addition to all of the wonderful profanity, they cut out major plot points???to the point of not making any sense. It makes me nauseous just to think about it.b, 21b, 21Here are some titles that I've recently been sucked into:b, 21b, 21Office Spaceb, 21Aliens (they show the extended cut, but the theatrical cut is actually a better movie)b, 21The Player (although it's the last time for a long time that I need to see this)b, 21Children of Menb, 21Primerb, 21b, 21Office Space is almost infinitely rewatchable. Who Framed Roger Rabbit is another title that I've watched at almost every available opportunity.b, 21b, 21In the holiday spirit, Christmas Story is always a classic, but they now show it on a continuous loop on one of the Turner channels so I won't go out of my way to see it. It's sort of like the video yule log, you just throw it on in the background Christmas day. Scrooged is the other holiday title I like to revisit at least once each year, but for some reason they don't show it as much as they used to. My wife just picked up a used copy of the DVD for $6 so I guess I won't have to go without this year.
The Departed. b, 21b, 21Never thought the movie was that great but it's so easy to watch. Same with "Oceans 11".

font class="post"1b, 21b, 21I LOVE the edited Big Lebowski : "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS, LARRY! THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FIND A STRANGER IN THE ALPS![/b]b, 21b, 21Anyway, the definitive 'suck you in' movie for me is the completely lightweight and completely enjoyable comedy 'Big Trouble', a Barry Sonnefeld movie from 2001 with a big ensemble cast(Tim Allen, Dennis Farina, Rene Russo, Stanley Tucci, Heavy D,etc), and it is highly reminiscent of comedies like 'It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World'. Lots of chases, lotta ins, lotta outs and it was shelved after 9/11 because the main part of the plot at the end involves a bomb on a commercial jet. It doesn't matter if I come in on this at the top, middle or end, I always get hooked. Not a great film, but a fine fine movie.
