I am interested in knowing whether or not how to tell the difference between an original pressing of roy ayers coffy and a repress. They look very similar. Is there going to be a difference on the codes. Please anybody let me know of any distinct characterestics that make it stand out from the repress thanks.

If it sounds shrill, tinny, and unsatisfying it's the repress.

font class="post"1b,121b,121i think there isn't much a difference in sound quality (if there is at all)b,121they use the same blanks that were used for the first pressing sometimes...

  • ...oh, a great soundtrack by the way...

Oh and I should mention that said potato must be in at least VG+ condition with no growth.

  • when you can buy it for 9.99 from Dusty Groove, it's probably a repress. When Craig Moerer is selling one for 99.99, it's very likely an original pressing.b,121Hope this helps.

font class="post"1b,121b,121The usual: glossy jacket with no aging; brown cardboard jacket; no paste-on jacket; vertical or horizontal overlapping seam on back of plastic seal; plastic seal is semi-elastic and not taut; smell test. I could go on, but that's more than enough for a grommet.

In fact, I can only enjoy it if it's playing on the original masters run through an og tape machine, I'm wearing og 70s threads and have been transported back in time through the vortex of a black hole created at CERN.

font class="post"1b,121b,121I can only enjoy it if the original session players perform the album note for note live for me in an acoustically perfect studio.

"Love From The Sun" seems to be the cut that keeps it valuable (Gilles fav-R)b,121b,121I ride harder for "Little B's Poem", despite the strange lyric (Prayed-for-a-boy,never-mind-R)

BTW on the subject of Dee Dee - I need an mp3 of "How High The Moon" from the Charley Records Sampler CD that I had stolen years ago and have nevarr seen since. This is a live version, not the one off "Live in Paris" though - this one is way better.b,121b,121Gemm don't have it either.
