Greeley, CO. b,121b,121the whole town smells like blood and sh!t from the local slaughterhouses, and when people visit you from there, they carry with them the lingering smell of blood and feces and don't even realize it. it's hard for me to imagine a more depressing place.

^ it is also the town featured in Fast Food Nation (the book) when discussing how fukked up US slaughterhouses still are.

In California you can basically take your pick of any city east of the 5 between San Bernardino & Redding.b,121b,121img src="http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/inns/california-inns.gif"1

We visited twice, they visited frequently, the stench of shit and rotting flesh twas in the air.

font class="post"1b,121b,121I've always been of the same opinion about Houston.b,121b,121Also:b,121b,121cosine on Worcester - it's awful.b,121This one time I drove through Macon, GA and spent an hour there. It was really depressing. But Otis Redding alone probably keeps it from falling to the depths of despair inhabited by such lowly creatures as Houston and Worcester.

Scranton, PA is BY FAR the worst U.S. city I have ever spent time in. VERY depressing place.

i've heard that Salt Lake is undergoing a big turn-around under their current (still, I think?) lefty mayor, who's making a lot of moves re: greening and public transport. anyone from the area care to testify?

font class="post"1b,121b,121While it truly is shitty, there are some things about Lowellb,121that are pretty cool - some buildings and businesses that stillb,121exist from the time that Jack Kerouac lived there and wrote aboutb,121them. Like many shitty cities, Lowell was once a pretty nice place,b,121thriving and solvent, until the local industry dried up.b,121b,121I'd rather hang out in Lowell than Lawrence or Worcester.

font class="post"1b,121b,121lol, dude - if Boston is the "shittiest" city you've been to,b,121consider yourself lucky. I know people don't love this place,b,121and it ain't El Dorado by any stretch, but it ain't even in b,121the top 500 shittiest cities in the US, my man. We already namedb,1213 other cities in Massachusetts that are armpits compared to Boston.
