not much, just a bunch of dollar binners for .50, but some ok stuff

    LPs

Four Seasons "The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette"

Astrud Gilberto and Walter Wanderly "A certain smile a certain saddness"

    V/A "Heavy Hands"

    OST "Hair-version originale francaise"

    Manfred Mann "Chapter 3"

Billy Squier "Tale of the tape" (for trade if anyone wants it)

John Klemmer "Brazilia" (for trade, one of those jazzdance classics the brits like)

Bill Black's combo "Basic Black"(for trade)

Doris Ann Allen and the Robert Jones Singers "Holy and Sanctified" ( some nice funky gospel moments)

    Lee Michaels s/t

Sandy Nelson "Boogaloo Beat" (looked promising, but merely a one tracker)

Jaime LLano Gonzalez y Su Conjunto Ritmico "Sabrosa" (roller rink latin, but a hottie on the cover, so worth fiddy cents)

    45s

    Ella Fitzgerald "Savoy Truffle"

    El Chicano "Senor Blues"

    D,

I had one of those a while back...pretty cool but I threw it up for an evil auction and was not disappointed. Is one of the 45's kind of gospel-ish?

  • This morning's flea market finds:

    - that Louis Hayes Group LP mentioned in the spiritual jazz thread yesterday

    - Yusef Lateef Eastern Sounds LP (70's pressing but mint)

    Yesterday:

    - Gilberto Gil 2-LP Philips comp. of late 60's and early 70's stuff

    - George Duke (I think it's called Feeling, on MPS), some of the songs start out real nice and peaceful-like before the proggy noodling commences, ruining it for me at least. OK for $1.

    - Tone Loc/Uzi Bros 12" with Cheeba Cheeba (very silly, it samples that Paul Winley song)

    - Ramsey Lewis - Back To The Roots (complete with ripped cover, I don't think I've ever seen one not torn) for $1

    also recently,

Mickey & Soul Generation "Iron Leg" 45 for $10, VG- copy that plays great actually, so that was a good deal

I'm also waiting for a Sister & Brothers Jed Clampett to show up in the mail, someone slipped up and put a NM copy up as a $20 buy it now.

The robert kenyatta record is pretty cool. Its not all that listenable actually. I dunno, if your in the right mood. Whats wrong with ecm??

    I dunno, maybe I'm a "jazz snob"???

  • Sun_FortuneSun_Fortune 1,374 Posts
maybe they're not rare records, but ecm's music can be pretty snotty. in my opinion. i.e. keith jarret.

  • Sun_FortuneSun_Fortune 1,374 Posts
looked through the ecm bin, and i must correct myself, they're pretentious records, not snobby.

Digging in Bangkok just now, picked up a Peggy Lee "The Sounds of the Seventies" with that Dock of the Bay cover the Beasties used and a nice version of Spinning Wheel. Also saw but passed on a Bob James 2, an Esther Williams LP with another cover of Spinning Wheel and Donald Byrd's "Hot Dog" LP.

    Chok Dee, peoples.

Do you realize that when you make statements like this, they pretty much say "Look everybody! Jeff Hassett is a baller!"? I am just trying to help you by pointing this out.
