i'll keep in touch, i definitely need somebody who knows what theyre doing on guitar...haha
Cool hit me up, I could really use the practice.

if i decide to actually work this into a release of some sort i just might need you to do the rhythm guitar and a new solo! i know nothing about guitar at all so figuring out chords is damn near impossible for me. i really wanted a rhythm guitar track too (like in the original)...feels kinda empty without it.
YOU KNOW THIS WHAT I WANTED YOU DID THIS FOR ME DONT LET ANYONE ELSE PLAY ON YOUR SONGS. LOOSE, DRY AND UNDERSTATED. GET YOUR BIOS DOWN YOU KNOW WORK THAT TAPE
i'm doing the same man. no drums so it's playing the MPC for me but i got a bass recently and am basically making shit straight off the instruments. i'm working more on producing shit to sound like a certain feel i have in my head that draws mainly from 60s/70s psyche and prog. just some real basic shit i'm working on:
i've had the bass about 2 months though i've not had chance to put more than half a dozen or so hours into learning the thing. and yeah, the high end shit is sloppy and sounds odd. fuck it, i'm learning though
this shit is fire. what was used for that fuzzed out synth sounding melody that starts in at 17 or 18 seconds?
peace, ray
for the "organ solo" or the horn line?
the horn line is just two tracks of my Roland SH-09 synth, the "organ solo" is the first Yamaha Portasound (the one that came in the carrying case) driven to the max on the "clarinet" setting.
Your shit ALWAYS impresses me when I listen. Major major props for just doing your own thing. Everything I hear sounds fresh. Even if it sounds retro/lo-fi... you know?
I would LOVE to have some recordings of you just going off on the drums. Samples for dayzzzzzzzzzz.
Keep up the excellent work man. I look forward to hearing more!

What kind of bass setup are you using ? It sounds great. Very acoustic bass-esque.

thanks man
it's an aria pro II i picked up for about ??60 on ebay. nothing special. just running it through a kaoss pad kp1 (not effected, i used it just because it was hooked into my PC line-in and i couldn't be arsed rigging up something else to route it through). i've effected it a bit i guess. nothing major at all though man, it's just a nice sounding bass i think
Word. Got the PS-80 not to long ago. Which one have you got, Ako?
(and what happened to those Hendrix mp3s? )

i have a portasound as well. alongside a wooden casiosound. sick shit for days. should use it more often. me and the boys only used the portasound when hanging out during the summer at some local lake, confusin the kids with strange chords. was pretty much fun though. if you like that kind of shit check my latest on ubiquity`s "choices vol 1" sampler.. hipster wonkaz "jupiter jam".. on a similar, SICK tip.
Your track is pretty nice dude, drums sound raw. That instrument (whatever the heck it is) sounds bananas. Wouldn't really bang this one, but it's dope on a different level.

SHIT sorry dude!! ill try to send those out today...
the one i used is the PS-1, which im pretty sure was the first portasound. really simple model, and really small: heres a picture of the PS-2, mines white with less features:
well, heres more. this is a lot faster and really simple (just drums and bass) and definitely a rough rough draft, with no plan. but i love it and although it might not be for everybody on here by any means, this is definitely a sound ive always loved. enjoy or dont, once i have more time to lay down some planned-out tracks (and make this into an actual song) i'll have more for you.
Comments
thanks, definitely a stylistic choice. my friend described it as very "drunk" sounding.

I haven't actually listened to it yet, but I really wanted to say THE HAMMER.

Nah, this one
Re-issued?
I wanna hear that.

I think it's been on a few comps. I just did a search and the dubious Soul Patrol label put it on this:
You can also get it on one of those bootleg Brainfreeze originals 12"'s that came out a few years ago.
i'm actually doing a remix with a snippet of the 'hung up' guitar hits mixed with a Jorge Ben track.

the drum sounds on it have some nice body to them. these earlier portable keyboards have a lot more soul to them than the later ones.
