I'm not sure I get that T-shirt. The mix CD looks pretty dope, but the shirt not so much. I know it's supposed to be "ironic" but the dude is on trial for having sex with a 13-year-old. He also took a piss on her. I have friends who have seen the video, and I'm sure many of you do too. Widely due to his power in the Chicago area, the girl, now woman, in question is denying that she is even in the video, which is why they are going to screen the tape for all to see in court. Of course, this isn't the first time for Robert. He always liked 'em young -- Aaliyah, what? Is this something you guys want to stand for? That's what the "Free Kells" is talking about right?I am perfectly OK with supporting the art, but not this man. Besides, the dude already is free -- his trial has had uncountable delays, the latest being that the lead prosecutor is about to have a baby.
01Aug07 -Singer R Kelly to be tried for child pornography[/b] CHICAGO, Aug 1 (Reuters) - Grammy Award-winning R&B singer R Kelly will go on trial Sept. 17 on child pornography charges, five years after the accusations were first made, prosecutors said on Wednesday. Kelly, 40, whose real name is Robert Kelly, faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl. Prosecutors have said the girl could have been as young as 13, but defense attorneys have disputed her age and whether Kelly is on the tape. The underground videotape was widely circulated. Kelly pleaded not guilty to the charges and in the interim has released hit songs, gone on tours, and released a DVD set of "hip-hopera" skits. Cook County Judge Vincent Gaughan said jury selection would begin Sept. 17. The trial was delayed, in part, by arguments over when the video was made. It was also pushed back because the judge fell and broke bones and needed to recuperate.

My minds telling me no but my body my body's telling me yeah baby i dont want
to hurt nobody but there is something that i must confess to you[/b]
Arent you the same dude who doesnt mess w/ contemporary R&B?
Well, it's about time we agree on something...
Produced By R.Kelly
There are a number of things I could go off on in that SF post. But this topic is by far the most important.
We live in a society where criminals are likely to get more time for small-time drug distribution than for rape.
And here we have knuckleheads advocating for R. Kelly.
My wife and I were having a night of Scrabble a few months back with another couple, and the dude, who we've been friends with for over a decade, started talking that same bbullshit, basically saying that the girl asked for it. We were very diplomatic about it...and we're still cool with our dude...but aong with his girl that night, we were NOT TRYING TO HEAR IT...especially in the presence of our daughter.
Anyway, as Trae once had his son say so eloquently...BURN THAT BULLSHIT!!!
such as?
just like mj, i like his music, but when i picture him singing the words, it makes me cringe.
its funny, people (i'd imagine) wouldn't dare wear a shirt that says "FREE VICK", yet in my mind, what he allegedly did, doesn't seem any more outrageous than what Kelly has been accused of.
get familiar
Thats some bullshit right there.
It means I can still play "Step In The Name Of Love" for another year, and make people happy people (yeahhh, yeahhh-yeahhhh...)
is this really in question?
What I'd like to know is when can I expect to see similar threads about other morally abhorrent musicians.
I've been waiting for a thread ordering the DJs here to boycott Rick James and MJ.
I'd like to get a comprehensive list of rock stars who have pissed on, drugged, raped, pimped or otherwise extorted female groupies, so that I can weed their records out of my collection.
Who will start a thread chastising Yuichi for his support of all things Kobe Bryant? Does anyone care that he RAPED a woman? DOWNRIGHT HYPOCRISY.
I'm keeping my gangsta rap records though.
though its just not cool to be. lets not forget jimmy pages underage lovers. all those rock dudes of the seventies were bangin 13 yr olds.
A to the MEN
hold up. kobe is innocent. remember, the DA dropped the charges. the alleged victim began a civil suit before her criminal trial. that is code for "i just want some money". if she would have waited and won her criminal case, where the burden of proof is higher, she could have just walked that verdict over to civil court and started a case just on damages. you need to chill with that sh*t.
btw, i don't see how it is hypocritical to despise someone but appreciate that person's talent. do we wanna go down the list of products that have been invented over the past 200 years and examine the background of the person who invented it?
Innocent until proven guilty... RIGHT. That was my point.
That's not the issue. Its dudes who'll dismiss the art because of the artist's criminal activity.
On some high horse shit - Talmbout "Fuck Kells,I'm Rick James Bitch."
Dude, the Zeppelin shark story was not even true. It's been confirmed in various interviews throughout the years with everyone who was there.
Jimmy Page dated a 16 year old groupie named Lori Maddox. She wasn't 13 and looked older than 16.
I seriously doubt "all those 70's rock dudes" were bangin 13 year old girls with the steady stream of legal pussy that was beating down their door at every city they played in. You're making it sound like every rock star was Jerry Lee Lewis or somethin.
Why would any man wanna bang a 13 year old child?
You can keep the rebuttals coming, folls... won't be changing my mind on this.
Oh, and Michael Jackson does indeed have serious mental issues. Still makes him a scumbag. Still sours me on enjoying his music. Doesn't really matter, dude has no music left in him anyways. Completely irrelevant and washed up.
R. Kelly's mental problems began the moment he got pinched.
I can get with this.
F'reals its not about the music, I'm a fan of some of his output, but not of the guy and could not rock a "Free Kells" shirt or tell someone "cool shirt" in good conscience
music = yay
person = nay
From the very first post in this thread:
Michael Jackson messing with those kids is real fucked up. What's more fucked up? The parents of those poor kids who allowed MJ access to their kids in the first place or, even worse, took a payoff to keep their mouths shut. These are their kids for chrissake!
The list goes on and on... however, how can you defend or even try to justify the irreparable damage done to this kid's life, psyche and all her future relationships at the hands of this piece of shit? This one is just a but too heavy to sweep under the rug.
In another thread I just read about all the hatred towards the drunk driver who killed DJ Dusk. How you wish you knew someone on the inside who could "take care" of dude. Why? Because of an accident? None of you ever got behind the wheel all fucked up? Isn't this way less of an offense than R. Kelly's?
Again, I'm all for supporting the artist's music despite their shady dealings, but this particular case shouldn't be so easily overlooked.
WOW.
damn man, not cool. this is really in poor taste dude.
i hear you, but i think your pov is not only extreme, but inconsistent. there is no way for you figure out what every artist has done behind closed doors. so just tell your kids that artists are not role models as you sing along to "i believe i can fly".
Oh, I know... too bad that Charles Murchison couldn't sing and produce tracks, huh?
Or else everyone on here would be all... "Oh that Charles Murchison is so crazy getting crunk & crashing into people. I hope he gets out soon so he can keep making those great records we all love."
