Soul Strut needs a booster rocket

In all seriousness, what can we do to get this board back up to a more efficient running speed? It's unbearably slow most days and I'm not saying this to blame Raj or anyone. I understand there are physical limits to how fast a board can run based on bandwidth etc. but that said, users shouldn't have to wait five minutes to load a page and this happens EVERY DAY it seems.

    I would say let's all donate but we did that already and it didn't help.

    That said I don't think Raj is really going to jump up and fix it right now...

    That's not it dude... it's the database. Either the connection to the db server is weak or the queries were modified inefficiently.

    When I first read this post title, I thought this was going to be
    one of those "Where's The Beef?" posts, like, hey guys, it's getting
    boring around here, there's no good arguments, no sweaty palms or
    shakey, nerve-wracked typing fingers. Even the 5-pagers are coming
    off the screen rote and tedious.

    And I was ready to be all like, hey on the world wide web you got
    to remember that realty is reality, unlike in the physical world,
    on the internest a boy can make his own beef from scratch. That
    this here place is popping and running off at the mouth like every
    other week, and this is just the other week. Besides what
    would fights and great times be if you could order them ON DEMAND.
    I promise that science will prove my claim that an unexpected fight
    produces more adrenalin than "hey there's a fight out by the bike
    racks at 3:30".

    That said, there sure are some queries around here I'd like to modify.

    I love how this thread didn't turn out to be about what you thought it would, but you still responded as if it were.

    I think that we should all follow your example and start replying to what we'd like to think threads are really talmbout.

    Is it my imagination or does the board running slower when you log in??? I just surf with out loggin in a lot and it's faster.

    OK I just got on with out loggin in and everything was fast. Checked page after page at lightning speed.

    Now I'm logged in and it's back to slow strut. Not sure why this would happen? Thoughts?

    Plus, the legend area says no one else is one line. Not sure if that's right though.


    Soulstrut is still the greatest thing to happen since sliced bread, so I'm not complaining....just observing in case it could help.


    OK just checked again and now it says 61 people on line. I think it's a discrepancy between the Main Index page and the Crate Diggin page.

    I noticed that the board recently hit the 5000 member mark - thats a measly 18 cents each

    some type of drive seems called for, there could also be a nominal contribution of say $5 sought from each new member

    and yep, even tho aussie dollars are worth less than US dollars I'm happy to pony up some

    Just open up all the threads you want to read in different tabs. Makes it more enjoyable than doing it one at a time.

    I'm totally cool with making a donation but was Raj saying it was an extra $900 a year? Or a one time thing?
