I am not just trying to be a hatteur for hatting sake here, but why exactly is this shit so great? Some dude with a blog posting rapidshare links to his CD rips, or rehashing the same shit that is going around and around the web in circles. wow. awesome. Can someone point me in the direction of a something with an original opinoin, perhaps? I dunno - this whole scene just seems kinda rancid to me.

I mean, I don't check these things out except for when they link to our site - so I can see if they are posting our shit without giving us at least a courtesy mention or whatever... but isn't most of the music on these blogs available for sale? I'm hardly some anti-filesharing crusader, but you guys need to fucking check and see if this shit is available - especially if it's on some bedroom indie reissue label that is probably putting it out at a loss. Otherwise, it just seems like a lot of punks ganking shit from sites like mine, or getting it of soulseek which seems kinda weak. Plaese to correct me if I'm mistaken though.

^ Go easy, man. Not everybody is a big dude with vault-like crates. Some of these blogs have informed me about stuff I never, ever would have heard, and I've seen a few records.

mp3 lust is kinda weak, yeah, but there's a post up now about how posting the 3rd Silver Apples LP here and on waxidermy led to it's rerelease....on a tiny bedroom label!

I hear you on the bedroom indie labels. I feel the same about downloading NEW stuff from soulseek and limewire for instance.
Thing is I hardly download any new stuff...mostly rare shit from the 60's and 70's that I can't afford to buy at some 'out there' price from a recorddealer so I don't feel to guilty doing that + the original band is not going to see any money from this anyway.
With new stuff it's different. Right now I don't have a lot of money to go on and this will be the case for the next few years to come. So how do I deal with new releases then? I'm not allowed to listen to music anymore because I don't have the loot? I have been spending like crazy on records over the last 10 years so right now it's the only way for me to listen to new stuff. But when I really dig a record I find myself buying it sooner or later anyway.
