for me, it's gotta be Roy Ayers, "My life in the Sunshine". Never gets old for me and puts me in a good mood everytime I hear it.

Johnny Burnette & the Rock n Roll Trio: The Train Kept a-Rollin'

(where R&B & country truly combine to create early Rock & Roll's finest moment)

    The Clovers: Blue Velvet

(where the Clovers out-popped every vocal group that stole the soul)

    The Kinks: Waterloo Sunset

(where Dave Davies created a song so flawless, it can be proven mathematically)

Billie Holiday: Let's Dream in the Moonlight (w/Teddy Wilson & Lester Young)

(where Billie paints a perfect image of weary innocence)

I could keep going but I'll stop...

John Coltrane's version of Lush Life is just perfect, especially the part at about 2 minutes into the song after the intro might be the most beautiful moment in music I know.

Curtis Mayfield "Right On For The Darkness"

I will never never never get tired of hearing this song. Emotional singing, heavy lyrics, tight band, arrangement. God, those strings kill me every time. Classic. Perfect.

Curtis Mayfield - Move on Up... i've loved that joint since i was a youngin and it still does the same thing to me, its incredible.

and Bernard Purdies 'whatcha see is whatcha get' always gets me hype, just the way the horns and the vocals go together, i cant stop myself from singing along with it in my own terrible way. Shit is just fantastic. BA DA BA DA ba dadaadadaaaaaaa oooooo! or suttin like that.
