Comments
1. Morbidly obese mouthbreather hovering over paperbacks
2. It's pollen season and VG- classical record dust makes my allergies worse
3. I would actually save money by ceasing to waste my time at local thrifts and instead using my time doing actual work and putting my earnings to use on eBay, high prices or not
Yeah, I think in 2006 this is true for anyone making more than $10 an hour...
1200 records for $400; dude was working in a 'streetwear' shop and selling his mom's collection cause he was moving. You can't stop the profit.
First up was this c.89/90 Santa Cruz Jeff Kendall Pro Model, used but still in great condition with no cracks/chips.

I sure hope those early Andrae Crouch LPs are better than his later stuff, probably not though. That Marion Montgomery is cool female vocal jazz with top notch jazz players backing her.
Is there a second prize?

2 Disco Comps-Ktel one from 75/RCA one from 1979 w/Instant Funk and Banda Black Rio
and more stuff like Sly's Stand!, Harder they Come OST, etc.
I got a cover of Scorpio on the label. It's definitely a Hoctor/Orion/Statler type dance instruction label. Listend to a bunch on the label and 99% lack funky blackman soul sensibilities.
It's like Geddy Lee and Vlad the Impaler had a baby...
i love their version of sweet pea, was it a 45 only release? or was it on an album too?
FEELIN IT!
But am I the only person who thinks that Poussez album is garbage?
I've got some earlier John Gibbs releases (we're talking about the steel band discofunk guy right?) but never heard of this one... TEC is pretty hit or miss though
I dig me soome Pou-ssez though!
I wanna hear the story on that D&D guy with the beard though upskiboo!!
Would this be lesbian pianist Mary Watkins who also released "Something Moving" on Olivia Recs?
Copped that late 70s Kool & the Gang "Funky Stuff" anthology with the subway art on the cover.
Copped that Willie Mitchell "On Top" joint
Copped Paul Desmond "From the Hot Afternoon" (some brazillian a&m shit)
Copped some female 75 Girls shit from the 80s, like "The Real Freaky Tales" and some other shit.
Copped 2 Live Crew "Shake a Lil' Somethin"
slightly weak and mildly exciting. record expo's are kinda stinky sometimes. and record dealers are schmucks sometimes. but it was aight. more liek a trip to the store than anything else really.
its a baris manco record that i picked up today and the music is straight up:
Who stole Betty Davis' boots.
Yup...Linda Tillery is listed as "the emcee"....lots of female jazz players on it too...some tracks have a larger ensemble
The Poussez! LP is alright...pretty standard disco.
But yeah, the John Gibbs has some pretty great percussion stuff going on.
4th songs second side is where it's at.
French/English folk. CBC sponsored.
Cat Stevens cover. Fairly straight cover save for the accentuated bass and hard backbeat.
Also got acopy of this (my camera is out of batteries)
ohh and a copy of High Fashion Dub (Studio 1) and an unsleeved I Roy album "Cancer" OG Ja Gorgon press from '79. Sounds like the Revelutionaires.
K in canada.
Mogollar > Baris Manco.
Upski, you in Turkey right now? I was feeling stingy about recommendations, but I can help you out. I have some Turkish wants as well.
Holleur via PM.
Peace
T.N.
I think it was Dreskiboogie who was asking for the Turkish recommendations. He is in Turkey now, or going soon.

Abu Hafla Orchestra - Wanna Buy a Camel (Arton)
Mal - The Preacher from the Black Lagoon (Physiocrat Productions)
Dave Liebman - Drum Ode (ECM)
I was a bit let down by this one - great artist on a great label
(latest release I remember seeing on Duke, from 1972) but just
not up to the usual quality. Still, not bad - you decide for yourself:
Jo Ann Garrett - Sting Me Baby - Duke 1972
This was an amazing eBay score - 99 cents!![/b] not buy-it-now,
a 7 day auction that nobody else even bothered to bid on. Such a dope
single - Square Room is a cool 3 1/2 minute edit of the 9+
minute psych epic on their $200 Tower 1st post-Van-Morrison LP
"Now & Them" - But It's Alright is a 45-only fuzzed-out
cover of J.J. Jackson's monster crossover soul hit!!
Check 'em:
Them - Square Room - Tower 1967
Them - But It's Alright - Tower 1967
Manfred Mann was a longtime white whale, an LP that I kept
expecting to find forever but never turned up. Finally caught
a nice clean copy and this album has some fantastic tracks.
I just uploaded the whole thing to Real Headz so check it out
for yourself.
Jean Wells was more than just a white whale, it was a mission.
I almost pulled the trigger on the suspect graded $100+ copy on
the Bay a few times, but held out and got this one (also from the
Bay) for less than half that - and it's clean as a mother.
This one's going up in Real Headz tonight, too, so get your
download on. Shit, F***_R***z might even download this one!
she needs that album. Just send it on to me and I'll
hook her up with it. I'll kick you a handful of Aesop's
Fables 45's for the good look
