Among a few others, I just bought: David "Textures" on VID Recordings. 1989. David plays piano, prepared piano, melodica and metal bowl of water.
Any info on this one? Can't find nothing.
Also: Graham Collier Sextet "Down another road" on Fontana and Cal Tjader "Huracan" Supercut Direct Disc Plus Recording on Crystal Clear Records. Audiophile vibes sound for dayz, b??tches!
Nice! One of the most amazing LPs EVAR. I am looking for a nice mono copy myself... it's tops on my list of IA records I don't have yet (second being Golden Dawn)... I've seen so many whipped copies go by, I have a feeling it'll be a while before mine comes along!
jesus...what was the damage if you don't mind me asking? Was it a "field" find?
I threw down a little over a bill, but thats really low for a mono copy in such good shape. I've been watching how they've been doing on ebay and I've been amazed at how low they've been going for these days.
sorry if my finds this week were dollarbin common, but fuck it here goes:
Plus I got some other piece of shit LP that had one really dope breakdown that made it worth the $2 I paid for it. I can't remember the name now though. I thought it was a Ralph Graham record but now I'm not sure.
I also might add that I passed on these due to shallow pockets:
this one was really clean too, only $7.50. I probably shoulda copped.
I figured I could find this for less, but maybe I'm trippin'. That last cut is a killer. My man put me up on this and it's been sitting in the store for a few days and nobody has touched it. I'm assuming it's either somewhat common or just relatively unknown due to the fact that tha mangione name is synonymous with tepid jazz funk terd (i been practicing my ss lingo).

I don't know that title, but based on what I've heard and read I don't think he's done anything worth owning...
This record is no good. It has some title that indicates funky black man soul. But the title is only designed to fool you, as it is in fact a terd.
And $7.50 is fucking high for that record, even in NYC. Clearly some shop dude who's like, "I'm gonna trick someone into thinking this is funky black man soul."
LOTS of mailbox shit this week, with a few real world moves thrown into the mix - bought cheap 45's in bulk from the Bay:
I'm really digging the early 60's NOLA shit - all those ALON joints get to me, although a few have this inexplicable "girl & boy" backing vocal that try to ruin things - the Big Bo is amazing in that it can't be any later than 1964, but it's so damn funky. I want some more Cicero Blake, too - deep early soul stylings.
Copped the Max Romeo today for $3. The Zoo, Lamont D & Otis Clay all came from Strutters, in a trade, set sale & eBay, respectively - thanks to C**ey, J**n & Je** for the good looks all around. Otis is on some nice late-70's Willie Mitchell flow, and the Lamont is just as good as I expected it to be. This dude was killin' it in the early 70's. The ? & Mysterians LP was an eBay score that I still don't quite grasp how it happened...mono OG, in the shrinkwrap, near perfect wax, I got it for like $13 on a Sunday afternoon... Lee Hazlewood was a local cop earlier this week that made my day.

Sounds great, I am digging it. Very nice indeed.
cool
find!
How is that exploito-Doors-instro LP?
It's on a good label for the stuff, but you never know...
Is it cool rock-band raw ish, or elevator steez?
LOL are there copies of this album without heavy ringwear?
I think all my Tony Williams albums are like that.
I guess it's a sign of "stoner classics" when they are always abused.
Cool record.
fortunately the vinyl is the close to mint... ring wear is cool with me as long as the wax is clean
Leaning towards elevator with some rocky touches, not too bad. Definitely more of an orchestral enoch sound than rocky raw funky.
same with my copy...plenty of ringwear but the vinyl looks perfect...
i think the material and the darkness of the cover make for particularly obvious ringwear..
YEp. '73.

These are truly facemelt....
You know that top tune, Aaron? We can thank M G@!!!n@ for giving us the chance to make $2000CDN a 45 (which I've done on 3 occasions).

And this private press oddity that is much better than I expected it to be--sublime at times:

If the title track doesn't move you than you have no soul
That's some nice rakords you got there.
