The 45s are: Clarence Carter - Too Weak To Fight Clarence Carter - Funky Fever Hendrix - Midnight Lamp Music Explosion - Little Bit O' Soul George Perkins & The Silver Stars - Cryin' In The Streets I was stoked to find the Perkins because it was a sweet case of I was listening to the 'Sweet Soul Music' comp CD before I left the house this morning & was grooving on Crying In The Streets. Then as I was flicking through the cheap country 45s at Real Groovy there it was. I didn't even know it got a NZ pressing, looks unplayed, sweet. LPs Actually not much to explain there, the LL is original NZ press to finally replace my old as cassette. Margie Joseph is good female proto-moder on Cotillion, Lamont Dozier prod. Norman Connors is OK, kinda cheesy in places 76 smooth, lite jazz on Buddah, there is a cover of Creator Has A Master Plan. Blue Magic is smooth Philly style vocal group soul from 74. More Nancy Wilson goodness. A couple of late 70s early 80s Concord & Pablo jazz titles which are nice for what they are. Mass Production is kind of modern soul on Cotillion from 82, kinda funky, pretty cool in it's own way.
I really like that Margie Joseph LP. It falls in nicely between soul eras...and Lamont Dozier was killin' it around this time, with the Midas Touch at the boards...

Yeah, I have only needle dropped it a few times at the store, but I am looking forward to giving it a good listen. I totally agree with the Lamont Dozier comment too.
Just a couple more today, on a quick stop out of the snow:
Les Sultans is the second Quebec garage rock LP I have pulled "in the field" in less than a week...coincidence?? Great covers on here, including this classic Them song:
Top left to right: The Artistic Sounds - message to a nation on Savoy, great soulful gospel joint Gladys Hardy- testing time, private Seattle gospel The Blossoms - shockwave
Middle left to right- Ed Moss- s/t great mellow private jazz lp, thanks Ari Dadisi Komolafe - hassan's walk on nimbus (finally) good lookin out Yuichi The Loving Sisters - the sisters and their sons, nice gospel stuff
Bottom row left to right- Gunter Hampel- out of new york on MPS, great free jazz lp feat. Perry Robinson and Jeanne Lee Bill Lewis/Khan Jamal - the river on Philly Jazz - beautiful lp, thanks Drew The Stovall Sisters - s/t needs no introduction, thanks again Ari
Nice french shit as always. Catherine Lara is incredibly dark..like the guitar on that 45. Moustaki is always classic..like Reggiani(doubles). And some nice surprises: Herve Brousseau got some nice lyrics and voice on this Francelike chanson Lp for a Quebec guy; french singing german (fontana 'discovery') Eva got some nice tracks. Plus a bunch of quebec folk (corcoran, valiquette)
Every copy I have ever found of that (which is not many) has been completely trashed. I finally bought the 80's official reissue LP to hold me over...forever?

Les Sultans - Tu es Impossible (I Can Only Give You Everything)
Bunky & Jake is decent hippie rock, featuring an all-star lineup
of studio musicians helping out, including Ray Barretto & Chuck Rainey.
Here's a nice mellow breeze of a track from the album:
Bunky & Jake - Cadillac Bleu
