One of them, although I think it was Lil' Dap, needed a "job" to get his PO off his back. So premier, being his friend, hooked him up with a rap career.
If that was Malachi, then that's the excuse for him sounding so wack since he never rapped before in his life. But if it was Lil' Dap that just got out of jail, malachi has no excuse.
I love this album. It's got good beats and the wackness of the MC's fires conversations like this all the time.
Before trains were graffiti proof I used to get loose Dirty rotten since the days of the deuce Dirty, because of the skin I'm in The fact I have melanin automatically makes me a felon Even though I'm righteous, rotten's what you're yellin But I'm not chain-snatchin', or drug-sellin' According to your books you said I must be damned like Ham Scoundrel, opposite of the king that I am But wanna get funny, we can get bummy Take you to the East and back again money Filthy putrified trick, step past your sister Challenge the Damaja, and you'll be history Mortal Kombat fatality, the original don't sing no R&B Nasty MC deity Chop off domes with the poems that come out of my pin-eal gland, as I expand, you know who I am
I'm feelin these cats as MC's, from the standpoint that they take complex street themes and break them down to a seemingly simple, kick snare flow and get the emotional content across. This is some straight up Hip-hop shit. I'll break it down like this, these cats ain't theory they are street. You can feel the emotion when these cats come with it. I mean its all heart with them. With lyrics like "so much anger built inside /don't stop to say hi / motherfucker just die /" you gonna feel that shit. Lets face it Premier is hip hop on that guts level. This album got his signature feeling all over it. I'll put it like this an MC is effective on many diffrent levels. Some main things, as far as what, could include; style, voice, crowd control, delivery, emotion, ect... Being the more levels that the MC can connect with their audience the more effective he/she is. Those Group Home cats be hittin on that emotional level. I mean they def ain't on some project blowed styles by any means, but they hit you with that straight up feeling in the pit of your stomach shit.

I live right near Grand Army Plaza and every time my train passes that stop I think "Hmm, Grand Army Plaz." And that's an actual fact, just like tight jeans cause yeast infections.
My man Eleven said he went to go mail something at the Mailboxes Etc down on Fulton Street about a year and a half ago and Jeru was working there. He said it was mad uncomfortable.

There was this time when "Come Clean" came out and it was like my "blunt smoking" years. That song was so NEXT I was like "Maaaaaan, Primo made the beat with water drops."
I feel this was the best all round Primo album Beatwise.
BUT... I also really like Malachi and Dap. So I feel lucky to be in this EXTREMELY small group cause it makes the album that much better. Not that I wouldn't have prefered he gave the beats to Nas, Jay, BIG, Rakim, etc...
Nah.. not any official releases, but DJ PREMIER is about to release all the instrumentals on vinyl in 2006 on his label, Yearound!!! Finally an instrumental LP!
This album is just soo nuts. I've read that Malachi actually wanted to be a prize fighter and not a rapper.. premo said that!
This shit is classic material. I could care less about his verbal thesarus filled wizardry. Delivery and beats are cool with me.
The End.
I, leap over lies in a single bound (Who are you?) The Black Prophet One day I got struck by Knowledge of Self It gave me super-scientifical powers Now I, run through the ghetto Battlin my, arch nemesis Mr. Ignorance He's been tryin to take me out since the days of my youth He feared this day would come I'm hot on his trail, but sometimes he slips away Because he has an army, they always give me trouble Mainly - Hatred, Jealousy and Envy they attack me They think they got me But I use my super-science and I twist all three I see sparks over that buildin - they're shootin at me I dip, do a backflip Then hit em in the heart with sharp steel bookmarks Ignorance hates when I drop it But no matter, what he do.. he can't stop the Prophet

I've actually always wanted to buy the rights to the entire Payday back catalog for years now. Maybe I'll do it thsi year.
I think the lyrical wackness iz the album's charm. Beautiful juxtaposition.

These dudes, by contrast, are just plain bad.

I missed that post. Fucking AWESOME!
"And the universe will give me strength like spinach."
but recognize that he sometimes tries to say TOO much by packing a grip of words into one line.
BOMBJACK: thankx for the link...
LOOK! It's the ostentatious genius of rappin!
Mentally, you can't talk to him, hear him, or see him!
My man Eleven said he went to go mail something at the Mailboxes Etc down on Fulton Street about a year and a half ago and Jeru was working there. He said it was mad uncomfortable.
I Still do like "Come Clean" though.
Fuck...really? That really is depressing.
What's up Cosmo...
Stop lying--you reached deep into your metaphorical stash for those gemz.
good to hear he is still stacking mail.
Whattup Nat?

Whoa!
I, leap over lies in a single bound (Who are you?)
The Black Prophet
One day I got struck by Knowledge of Self
It gave me super-scientifical powers
Now I, run through the ghetto
Battlin my, arch nemesis Mr. Ignorance
He's been tryin to take me out since the days of my youth
He feared this day would come
I'm hot on his trail, but sometimes he slips away
Because he has an army, they always give me trouble
Mainly - Hatred, Jealousy and Envy they attack me
They think they got me
But I use my super-science and I twist all three
I see sparks over that buildin - they're shootin at me
I dip, do a backflip
Then hit em in the heart with sharp steel bookmarks
Ignorance hates when I drop it
But no matter, what he do.. he can't stop the Prophet
