Its Favs, not Favs to play at a party.Fuck Beats per minute, son. Use the Force Luke.
I'm jus saying, although I've never tried to play this when people want to dance, i'm not so sure it would work. In college when people where stoned and doing mushrooms at parties, I played this anytime.
major co-sign, that song is the best example I have ever heard of...it's hard to describe, but a real slow groove that is so tight, it feels like it's going to explode, you can't help but move even though it's sooo slooow. And "J-One" kills me every time.
recent ones I've been feelin':
Honey Cone-when will it end Vicki Anderson-Super Good Betty Adams-Make It Real
..and that Sisters Love version of "Give Me Your Love" that someone posted a scan of (and I saw went for 3 bills on Popsike ) and was played on wHITEY ON THE MOOn the other night...that shit tears.

look at the clock on the wall!
Rolls Royce-You've Got To Believe In Somethin'(Pointer Sisters)
Syreeta-Heavy Day
Pointer Sisters "Dont it Drive you crazy," is one of my faves. At 83 bpms, its great for those loungey 10:30 slots.
i don't find this song lite at all...10:30 PM, sure, or even better - 2:30 AM to send the lovers home with a good one swirling around in ther heads...
look at the clock on the wall yaaalll.....it's goin' tic toc (tic toc........yeeeeeeeahhh) but what can we do bout it.........(nothing at all)

classets - i've got to space(a little bit softer now)
borderline funk/soul
luv bugs - blow my horn
Esther Morrow "things aint right"
Mitty Collier "I cant Lose"
Vicki anderson "In the Land of Milk and Honey"
damn straight
I just put funk soul in the title cause it seemed go well with the 'four fave female sureshots' < I should have just left it at that, in retrospect.
The forum should be open to anything female really, be it jazz, soul, funk..... as long as its one of your four faves..... feck it.
coupla 45s I really rate:
Ruth Brown - You're A Stone Groovy Thing
Marie Queenie Lyons - See and Don't See
Clea Bradford - My Love's a Monster
Trinikas - Black Is Beautiful
and there's many, many more....
Co-sign, and slept on.

Aretha - Rock Steady
Miriam Makeba - Amampond
Etta James - Tell Mama
Mavis Staples - Security
Bonus:
Otis and Carla - Tramp
Dan
Lyn Collins - Think (Probably all time fav JB Prod.)
Marva Whitney - I Made A Mistake (I'm biased, I LOVE JB productions!)
After those 3 it's a toss up, so I'll just throw in a 4th tune that I've been listening to a lot lately
Ruby Andrews - You Made A Believer Out Of Me
