Honeycone "Stick Up"
Irene Reid "Dirty Old Man"
Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings "Ain't it Hard"
Go back to skool.
Now your talking funk!!!!!
why do people think they can judge and shit on peoples PERSONAL tastes around here?
Ann Sexton - You're Losing me
always seems to get people moving
"Oh" "no" "he" "didn't"
Ain't no skool man. This ones just about the cuts everyones diggin the most.
Each to their own and all that.
There's alot of overexcited newbies up in here lately.
gimme shelter - merry clayton
i can't stand it - brenda george
giving up - gladys knight and the pips
Yo, you can take that attitude to www.snugglestrut.com, son!
God I'm always amazed at the stuff people will jump on or defend based on the day they are having. Not like I'm the only one to hassle someone, in fact I pretty much never do it.
It was really a joke, but I should have used a The guy is called Mr Lee PHD. I figued useing a Beastie Boy song title he would have a little humor in him. I thought spelling school with a K would indicate joke.
But really there are better Ike & Tina songs.....but the one he listed is a good one too. And Nancy Wilson isn't really funk.
No hate, just still working on my first cup of coffee so my joke O' meter isn't up and running.
Yo its all kool.
You're right tho, the Nancy Wilson is more jazz I suppose... okay switch that for Sue Ann Jones - I'll Give You My Love.
Just to be clear I really was just kidding.
So........
Spanky Wilson - "you" more big band funk but it's got people asking me "what this?" there is another Spanky getting big bucks but I can't remeber the name.....thought or think or tough orsomething
Ann Alford - "got to get a job" I know it's on the font page but I've had it for a while and it always gets people asking
"Unwind Yourself" - old news but most people just know it as a beer comercial and the DJ Kool cut, so they always ask.
Bettty Davis - 'they say I'm different" people always warm up to this when you say she was married to Miles.
Now your talking funk!
Vicki Anderson
Vicki Anderson
and well umm...Vicki Anderson!
recognize batches!
Spanky - Sunshine Of Your Love was the bomb.
I'll add:
Stovall Sisters - Hang on in there
Marva Whitney - I'm tired I'm tired I'm tired
Betty Davis - Anti-Love Song
*(for you poptarts, that's grown and sexy for "cosign")
shirlean williams: this is a song
rhonda davis: a long walk on a short pier
foxy: trouble
That's a good one too. "Doin It" was the one I couldn't think of. I knew it had a T in the title some where. I'm going back to school now!
I'm sure it's the lack of sleep and excessive moving of boxes but........."poptart" is fucking cracking me up today!
We'll knows it's caught on when djanna tells her dog "Look you little poptart I'll talk you for a walk when I finished my breakfast!"
Aretha - Save Me
Gladys Knight - Imagination
Etta James - Down in the Basement
Laura Lee - If You Can Beat Me Rockin' (You Can Have My Chair)
is that the same as the ike&tina "doin it"?
i'd add the ike&tina version to my list as well as roberta flack's go up moses...
this could go on and on...
trinikas-remember me
jones family-chains of love
charlene and the soul children-love changes
There's A Break In The Road - Betty Harris
Pick It Up, Lay It In The Cut - Sharon Jones
Humpty Dump - The Vibrettes
Good question......Ike wrote their version so if anyone has a copy of Spanky and could check the composer. That Spanky goes for 1-200 hundred so I sure as heck don't have one.
Ill post 3 other ones later
Merry Clayton - I've Got Life
Betty Davis - If I'm In Luck...
Freda Payne - Mother Misery's Favorite Child
Millie Jackson - A Child Of God
Peace
