  • I got a Japanese easy-listening version that I think is nice...

Years ago, late one night while driving, I heard an insane death metal version. It has been with me ever since, and I've never found out who it was. I don't know if it was "death metal" or what, but it was the kinda metal where the guy sounds like the devil himself. Very low and deep gravelling growl kinda singing.

    Anyone know this version?

There's a version on the Coxsone/Studio 1 album "Swing East" by Soul Sam (likely a made up name to escape contract obligations to another label) that slams.

    K in Canada.

this is the same version as Young-Holy, they just had her sing over the track.

Same is true of the Shirley Bassey/ Johnny Harris rendition

Paul Horn and the Concert Ensemble on Ovation has a funky flute and harpsichord version. Freddie McCoy has one on "Gimme Some!" too
