Redman > Nas
for me, anyway.
redman just wins out for me just due to consistency and I think he has a better ear for beats
he was lucky to be mentor and in the Eric Sermon camp.
That's pretty good actually.
true, and a big part of that is the fact that he has allways been down with those dudes, Nas seems to change producers really often which I think doesnt help maintain any sort of consistent sound, I imagine that this would more than likely be due to being under more commercial pressure than Redman (in my private mindgarden anyway)
Im really tryin to wrestle w/ the mc vs mc part.
Nas is the more "intelligent" mc, but Redman's cleverness and wittiness matches that IMO.
Redmans humor is more appealing to me, yet Nas does take chances.
Shit like Rewind is a great idea, that i dont think any went there before.
Banger for Banger....i dont feel like doin the math on that one.
I have more fun when listening to Redman.
Nas' subject matter can be weightier.
On a personal level, I have some great/hazy memories of getting seriously zooted and listening to The Superman Lover.
One of my faves.
yeah, this is right on point.
I've always felt that Redman has been underrated as a top mc because of the, sort of, goofiness factor. i think the clever lines he has are sort of over shadowed by his rap style to most of the public. It seems like, in teh 90's specifically, the joking/goofy mc was always second tier to the serious/intellctual rapper in terms of a "best lyricist" debate.
Illmatic > Redman but Redman over Nas pretty much sums this thread up
+1
yes and this is why the Liks never got the respect they deserved.
Redman.
singles=nas
flow=tie (two of the best)
career=redman
impact=nas slightly (i wish redman had had more impact)
current streak=redman slightly (both are still relevant)
live presence=redman
videos=redman
consistency=redman
so sick, but yeah Illmatic trumps all Red's shit
What? The Album > Illmatic.
haha, please be serious...What? is a great album though...b/w
Juice Sndtrk> Whut? The Album
this shit is hillarious
It never gets old--a true classique. I adopted the dollar box idea for a while.
Report to Frank Ocean thread stat if ur not trolling
Explain
vs.
redman doesn't have an illmatic (who does?), but he's been way more consistently entertaining over the yrs, and I don't mean "entertaining" in a haha way, I mean his music/rapping has been much more enjoyable to me musically over the yrs.
