    If there ever comes a point where Places and Spaces is under consideration for getting un-filed, I am officially quitting records. In my top 20 LPs in any genre, no doubt.

    Most of the rest of the label's 1970s output was depressingly terdly, though.

    The cover is from one of Colombia's many treasured pre-Columbian artifacts (now currently in el Museo del Oro)!

    According to Jazzdisco.com, parts of Lift Every Voice were recorded in May 1969 and March 1970; Moon Rappin' was recorded in December 1969.

    Then Lift Every Voice is 1970 considering you can't release something before recording it.

    Read closer - the '70 session cuts are only extra cuts on the CD.

    Some place claim a 1970 release and others '69, I'm believing the '69.

    Then it doesnt seem likely Moon Rappin' was released in '69 - discogs is accurate, it came out in 1970.

    Good call. I concede. But I honestly might start a thread about the amazing Blue Notes from 1968 and 69. Two incredible years for them.

    DB's Kofi wasn't officially released until 1995. In terms of sound, I think recording date is more relevant.

    When I first heard this album it flipped my wig. Love the liner notes too.



    my other fav's that I can think of have been mentioned: Grant Green Alive, Eddie Henderson: Sunburst Donald Byrd's Places and Spaces/Ethiopian Nights/Street Ladies
