Anybody do a post-punk DJ night?

If so what are the songs that work great for you?I've been doing a post punk night for few a months here. It's a lot of fun. I've been creeping out of the standard parameters of what post-punk supposedly is, not only in terms of artists but, also years 1978-1984. This is mainly because I don't want to get bored with playing Joy Division and Gang or Four all the time. I know that sounds weird, but there's a handful of songs that bring the house down every night.

    Because I live in a rock town, I end up spinning a lot of post-punk. It's a fun genre to work with because it's so easy to mix in with boogie and disco and all that.

    I hit up the usual subjects: Contortions, ESG, A Certain Ratio, Konk, Au Pairs, Flying Lizards, Wire, etc. I'll also throw in stuff like Chaz Jankel (3,000,000 synths or Glad to know you). It's a pretty diverse genre (if you can even call it a single genre) blending punk, funk, disco, dub, etc so I usually have a lot of fun.

    I'm spinning for a rock show tonight so I'm sure I'll be playing a lot of this stuff if I don't get lost in my soul/funk 45s.

    I used to play a lot of this shit when I first began DJing in my early 20s. Some of these may be in your bag already;

    ^^^ very nice list. Quite a few favorites plus some I'll definitely seek out.

    For some reason Crass's little disco punk nugget "Walls" just popped in my head:

    Yes indeed. The girl groups of that era are so good. A similar favorite (I treasure this 45):

    Faux_Rillz wouldn't like this (Laswell), but I used to play the shit out of this tune.

    Yeah the only tracks I have on that list is the Au Pairs and Bauhaus. I'm doing all vinyl. So it might take a minute to track those down. This are exactly the kinds of suggestions I was hoping for. Thanks!

    What's that tune fading out at the very very beginning there? Sounds awesome...

    Little known but super rad -- Deborah and the Puerto Ricans "Side B Side A Side"

    Amazing -- it took me years to track that 45 down -- and now you can just listen to it at your leisure. Lucky bastards. Get off my lawn.

    No problem. Should have prefaced too - 'Deborah' is the Deborah Evans-Strickland of The Flying Lizards.

    If you don't mind stepping into re-ish domain, Crippled Dick threw that song on both the Grlz comp and on the Maximum Joy collection Unlimited (1979-1983).

    Nobody mentioned Liquid Liquid, Pigbag, or James Chance/James White yet? All necessities, in my estimation.

    I guess you might also be able to fit something in like "Can't Cheat Karma" by Zounds.

    Well I did mention the Contortions. But, yeah, I've never spun this stuff without having them, Liquid Liquid and Pigbag in the crate. Papa's Got a Brand New Pigbag is a goddamned monster.
