How have i lived this long NOT ever hearing this album. His vocal style is so unique and the production often defies logic. Allan Toussaint?Goofy, weird anfd soulful as hell.Anyone else ride for this?

"The Beat" is one of the greatest Meters-backed vocal tracks that nobody knows.

I'm not crazy about the whole album (it's good, just not my #1 fave..I'm still more of a funk dude), but "The Beat" is pretty dope. I just played it last night at the Slaughterhouse/Pharoahe Monch/Del show in Calgary...I definitely got some confused stares from some Slaughterhouse fans..but I think that's what I enjoyed about playing it. I hadn't heard of it until I found it last year.

Stevie Wonder's Superstition sounds similar to this

I regret giving my copy of this LP to my homie. Oh well--I figure that should give me good enough record karma that I'll find another copy sooner rather than later.

You're probably right! Want to trade me something cool for mine?
