  • Yall better Sir that cop.

The only time in my life that I have been full on punched in the face
was by a cop when I was 17. It was a "round up the punk rockers loitering
at the gas station" night, quite common in the mid-'80s.
    I mouthed off.
Dude looked around to see if anyone was looking,
and straight knocked me on my ass.

    Iv'e said sir ever since.

I've had some funny ass run-ins with cops at the porn houses.

Vice squad used to show up on complaints of pornography being filmed there.

Usually ended with a couple girls giving the cops a show from the other side of the fence and them leaving laughing and shaking our hands

Rule Of Life #2,439 - Never shake hands with the guy working at the porn house.

porn stories aside, I NEVER sir a cop. I just straight talk them and answer the questions and throw in small talk to ease the mood. F*ck them. I've been pulled over with lots of illegal shit in my car for speeding and just said "sorry man, I really wasn't paying attention, my fault entirely" got a ticket and went on my way.

Then again I've had my car completely tossed...dog and all, for nothing, and they came up with nada and I just giggled and went on my merry way. F*ck em

either way those days are long gone, I ride clean as F*ck now and haven't been pulled over in a looooong time.

That's another American 'thing' I just don't get, it seems to be socially acceptable to drink and drive. Well it does in your movies/tv shows anyway.

I wouldn't say it's socially acceptable at all; however, if you happen to live in a part of the country (as most of us do) without reliable (or existent) public transportation, you have no other choice than to leave the way you came.

On topic, I've only been pulled over once and don't recall dropping the "Sir" bomb. Cop was super polite and I was completely clean and sober so to tell the truth I wasn't even paying him much mind. Forgot to turn down my stereo even.

    Hey,

In my younger days, I used to wile out so I've had my share of interactions with cops. Also, I came of age in North Carolina, home of the redneck, n**ga-hatin' police officers, so "sir" was a must for my big, Black ass. On occasion, I would get drunk and/or high as hell at some bar/nightclub, and drive home (stupid!). I've been stopped in various NC locations for this offense (e.g., Greensboro, Southern Pines, Spring Lake), usually for swerving. For the 1st two places/stops, I was ordered out of the car and told to "walk the line." Fortunately, I passed each time. I also explained that I was "tuning the radio" which is why I swerved. On the Spring Lake stop, me and my boy James were stashing empty 40 bottles in the backseat on the floor! Each time, I was sent off with a warning and an order to "drive safely." Also during this period, I got stopped at the "speed trap" on the way to Virginia Beach. The cop gave me a ticket, despite my politeness, and I paid it. One night at Hardee's in Fayetteville (when me and my boys beat up these redneck soldiers; see the "Fight Stories" thread from a few years back), the cops detained us and K-9 sniffed my car. Fucked up thing was that one of my dudes pushed a dime sack down between the backseat, but K-9 didn't find it. Thank goodness, the cops let us go!

When I was in graduate school (in Ohio), I would get tired on my trips home to NC. During these instances, I would speed to get home quicker. As a result, I was stopped in Yadkinville, NC (west of Winston-Salem) and in Fayetteville, NC (only 10 minutes from my parents' crib). On the first stop, the cop car initially blew past me, and I assumed the officer was on his way to stop another vehicle. Then, the officer circled back, pulled up beside me with his lights on, and yelled at me to pull over. He was a brotha and said (in a thick, Southern accent) "you didn' think I git you, huh?" I replied, "you flew by so fast, I thought you were chasing down another driver. I then politely apologized for speeding, and explained that I had been drive since 3AM from Ohio. I was speeding because I was tired from my trip (it was about 10AM at the time). Dude let me off with a warning.

For the Fayetteville stop, a motorcycle cop pulled me over. He said I was doing 15 mph over the speed limit, an offense that I could lose my license for in NC. Ironically, I was going home to pick up my new truck (a '96 Isuzu Rodeo) that dad made the deal on (and I paid for) to replace my aging '90 Ford Escort. It was fucked up that I could lose my license before enjoying my new ride. Anyway, the officer (a White dude) was real crass, wasn't having my plea coppin' (the "sorry for speeding, I'm tired" story), and gave me a speeding ticket. I got mad, and at the end of the interaction, I snatched my license and registration from him exclaiming, "Gimme my shit" and drove off. During my visit, I went up to the police station and personally apologized to dude (admitting I was wrong and acknowledging that he was just doing his job). I later got an attorney, fought the ticket, and won. Overall, being polite has worked to my benefit in dealings with the fuzz.

    Peace,

    Big Stacks from Kakalak
