I did this the another day to Officer Jerkheadface and immediately kicked myself for doing so.Problem is, I 'sir' and 'ma'am' folks ALL the time. Been doing so since I was a child (Mom was always on my case about manners). Now I do it without even thinking about it. I even confuse the little 17 year old dudes working at the mall. Ladies - 'specially ones younger than me that don't realize they're younger than me - give me a hard time saying "Don't call me that, it makes me feel old."Anyways, the other day after the Quik show, dumb ass street gang task force cop (they were out in FULL FORCE at that show) tells me to leave the parking lot and "go to your car." I said "yes sir" (doh!) and within 2 seconds gorilla ass fool was in my face saying "NOW!" I said "Wow, dude...really?!" and stared right back at him. He put his hand on his flashlight and I said "easy...I don't have a car," shook my head at him and dipped. The whole time mad at myself for sir'ing that assholeface. It's alright, though. I DO have a car. It was around the corner. Guess I got the last laugh.

Where did the whole calling people sir and ma'am come from anyway?
It benefits me, first and foremost. So I do it for practical reasons.
I'm also from Charleston SC and we say stuff like "F*ck you, sir."
And Herm, for the younger girls helping you at the mawwll, I think the appropriate term is "miss"?

Yes, I've been a wise ass to the Police when I was young, immature and stupid.
Yes, I was thrown in a jail cell for doing so.
Yes, I have been written tickets that I probably would not have received if I was respectful.
I've received MANY tickets although none of them were what I would call "unearned".
Yes, I currently break some of this country's laws and expect to be punished to the fullest if caught....that will be my fault, no one elses.
Wanna hear some stories about my experiences with the Police....I'll be happy to share.
That's another American 'thing' I just don't get, it seems to be socially acceptable to drink and drive. Well it does in your movies/tv shows anyway.

Well, for the record, I have also never beat a woman with a folded up wire hanger (which I believe was also one of his rules to live by should your 'bottom bitch' get out of line). I think ol' Iceberg would have to concede that the code of the streets evolves depending on which streets you find yourself on. Common sense prevails. If a cop dissrespects you, that's the breaks. You get nothing but trouble by returning the favor. Might as well minimize your complications and say as little as possible, as politely as possible, if possible.
Maybe I should've said "aging bad-ass". I mean that with some measure of respect.
a dickhead cop can really F*ck up your weekend, really no need in provoking a meathead.
That said, they can do what they want to you regardless of how polite you are, but putting a cop in their place will almost always guarantee a trip downtown. The main jail here in Memphis, 201, is a nightmare...overcrowded, drunk tank is also the rape tank, assault tank...there is little to no segregation according to offense. There is a chance of gen pop prison shit happening to you at 201

I call this one???.???The Freudian Slip From Hell???
It was an evening in the early 90???s and my partner and I were packaging up boxes of LP???s to send to Germany. We ran out of Packing Tape and the local Office Depot was going to close in 10 minutes so I jumped in my car and headed to the store. As I walked up to the front door it was being locked and they would not let me in. So I went to my car. Pulled out of the Parking Lot and while stopped at a red light was thinking about where else I could go to get tape.
Two lanes over from me waiting at the same light was a cop. As the light changed and I moved forward I could see in my rear view mirror that the cop was pulling behind me with his lights on. I immediately turned into another Parking Lot and stopped with him behind me. The cop was a very large black man and he immediately ordered me out of the car and had me put my hands on my car as he frisked me. His first question was ???have you ever been to Prison??? to which I answered ???NO????????????Never???? he said as if he couldn???t believe it. Then he asked if I had anything in my car that I shouldn???t have. I kinda laughed and told him he could search the car. Then he said something that really pissed me off??????What are you doing out at this time of night???? Now I???m a grown ass man and it???s 9:05PM???..so I said ???Look, I live right down the street and I was just going out to get a Pack of Roll???..Uh, ummm??? I mean a Roll of Packing Tape???
???A pack of rolling what??? he replied???.As he began to search my car I did my best to explain my Freudian slip of which he wasn???t believing at all. Dude tore my car apart. At this point I ask him ???Excuse me, why did you pull me over in the first place??? to which he answered ???Because you didn???t have your turning signal on for at least 50 feet before you turned into this Parking Lot??????.I was pissed???I only turned into the parking lot because he was behind me with his lights on and there wasn???t 50 feet between the turn and the parking lot. So I realized the stop was BS and the dude didn???t find anything in my car. He wrote me a ticket for not having my Insurance Card and let me go on my way.
I went home where my wife and partner had a good laugh at my expense. The next day I was still pissed so I decided to call the Police Station and complain. I got a Sargeant and explained my experience. His response was ???What kind of car were you driving???? I told him a 280Z??????.???What do you look like, do you have facial hair??????.Um, yeah I have a goatee???..???Do you have long hair??????????.yeah, I guess you could say that???. ???THAT???S why you were pulled over, you fit the Profile??????.he went on to explain that they train their officers to look for certain types of people and my description fit one of those Profiles by the book???..he told me next time I get pulled over just have the officer call him and he???ll take care of things. For the next few months I TRIED to get pulled over without actually breaking the law but to no avail.
About 8 months later I was at the local gym playing ball and I recognized the Cop that had stopped me. After a couple of games I asked him if he remembered me from that night and he said he did. I told him I thought it sucked that he had ???profiled??? me and he said?????????You???d be amazed at how many folks I put away that look just like you???. Then he apologized and said he was just doing his job. Seemed like a decent guy and we played ball from time to time after that.
A few months later I was driving to work and heard a radio ad about a Class Action lawsuit against the state of Texas for profiling drivers. I wrote down the number and figured I could get in on some of this lawsuit money, after all they had ADMITTED to me that they profiled me. I called the number and got an office in NYC. I started to explain my experience and the woman at the other end said???.???That???s EXACTLY the kind of stuff we???re looking for???. Then she said??????What race are you???? I told her I was white and she said. ???Sir, I???m afraid you don???t qualify for the lawsuit, it???s called DWB(Driving While Black). Can???t win for losing.
A young 20 somethin' cop needs to Sir me at my age.
Vice squad used to show up on complaints of pornography being filmed there.
Usually ended with a couple girls giving the cops a show from the other side of the fence and them leaving laughing and shaking our hands
