"Magnificent" and "Maybach Music 2" with Kanye and Weezy are both REAL dope. Those J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League dudes are no joke on the beats. I think Ross will have a very good album. Will 50 Cent's new album be better than the new Ross?Plaese to discuss...........

    Of course.
But even if that wasn't the case no self-respecting hip hop fan
would be caught dead buying Ross's album right now since his fake persona
    has been exposed by 50.

Or that he was rolled out to catch the Mike Jones wave of using your own generic name.

?????? Rick Ross is not the Miami rappers government name. The Miami rapper took his alias or "nom de pleur" from legendary drug dealer "Freeway" Ricky Ross. I have no idea what the Miami rapper's real name is.

    ZING!

yeah DB, I figured pleur was a real French word I just didn't have the desire to look it up, despite the comedic potential

    b/w

I know all there is to know about the crying name.

    You serious?

I'm pretty disconnected from this feud, I got sick of following every twist and turn.

All I've really seen, besides a rapper being exposed for not actually being a drug boss and having had a real job, is 50 crossing a lot of lines and doing generally foul shit.

What have I missed? Is Rawz really considered "over"?

Was actually looking forward to this album after his last release but it's so over polished thar, Murda Miami apart, I found it instantly forgettable.

    Worth revisiting?

  • magpaulmagpaul 1,314 Posts
I'd say so. can't say I even remember 'Murda Miami', there's definately a handful of bangers though.

  • JuniorJunior 4,853 Posts
Ok Chizzle, I'll give it another go. Let us hope it is not in vain.

Isn't that kind of the point of all of his releases, though (the high polish, not the forgettableness)?

Yeah I know what you're getting at but this one just seemed a step too far, admittedly just had it playing in the background but half the time I didn't even notice that the song had changed, only Mafia Music made me sit up and listen and this was purely due to the beat.

Of course it's also possible that what worked for me 12 months ago now seems played out.

The record wears a bit thin due to some of the hooks being pretty terrible. alot of the beats are really really good and ross isn't the worst rapper out there, he's like jeezy w/ a better vocab.

i like "mafia music" the best too, no chorus just rhyming w/ some clever lines here and there. i like ross' previous one better though.
