A haul of Mike and Sally Oldfield 45s for three quid.

that everly brothers rules. all baroque with harpsichords and shit.

feeling the Ivory. cover is a disaster but record is perfect.

been after the Billy Lee Riley forever but it's trashed.

for $1 I settled for the cover and the 3 songs that played through

this week i got shown a indie/punk/nuwave selection, some highlights in these 1st 2 pix.

^^creed is not a good record, i only bought it because it made me laugh that there was a prior Creed.
i own the Stillwater s/t record from the early 70s for the same reason. (re: 'almost famous')
The pogo album is so great! this one came with both versions of the lyric sheet for some reason.

^^criminal nation looks like some sir-mix-a-lot hangers on from reading the credits.
    van Gogh impressionist LP steez!

^^ yes. that is indeed Truman Capote reading "his Christmas memory". WEIRD

the victory of Satan. and raer stuff on GRT, Capitol of Canada.

^^ Huge ups to S*** for super righteous trade action! plus mono Love at last. so hard to find this album in mono!

this 45 box was stuffed with CLEAN radio station copies of good '66-'73 stuff. and some bad stuff but whatever, a good package deal.

phone pics...my neighbor gave me these yesterday, and they included Calender which i had been looking for. (remember that mini?) that is one weird record. Restoring faith that things find you often before you find them.

he also gave me this crazy heavy necklace with a pewter shell and said it would bring me good luck.

i gave him a cool wooden chair in return. here, here for random bartering during moving.

Mixed bag for me too this weekend. Combination of Charities, One rarely visited shop and a fair.

Also found Mr and Mrs Pitch on the train this afternoon in my neck of the woods. They claimed to be visiting a friend for Sunday lunch but it was quite obvious that they were there to do a reccy on my patch. Charity shops have been warned and ladies in the back rooms have been put on red alert!!

Today's fair was very busy and finds were thin on the ground. The top two are both great LP's. One a private press funky jazz LP, the other a vocal Lp that is new to me with a couple of funky cuts about the state of the economy. How topical! The rest were a ?? a pop and are most probably pants!

Next lot were in the ?? box at a rarely visited store. A DJ had recently dumped his early 90's jazzand hip hop collection.

Also got offered a very snazzy portable. It was an unused original 70's briefcase style setup with speakers in the lid and a turntable, tape player and recorder and radio. Can't find any details on the web so would appreciate some advice with regards to value. The make is Federal which I believe is Japanese and the model is 818. It is called a Three in One Stereo System. I have a photo of the box on my phone but I'm not sure how to get it onto the computer? Any help from the tech heads!

    Next were from charities:

Got one 45 too, The Main Ingredient - Magic Shoes as sampled by Main Source on Fakin the Funk

"Morning sun" is a dope cut. There was another one from the LP, really worth checking out with Robert Owens, called "Can't stop".

and a record I now have on eBay:

    It can be read here:

Kinda sad, really, but spring is around the corner so hopefully more people will be unloading the goods.

    Hey,

found this couple of Areito/EGREM joints today in a not so good condition. Crazy Situation today, the dealer wouldnt sell me "only" 10 records but tried to talk me into buying all of them.
Unfortunately the other records didnt only smell heavily, were covered in mud and wet, but also the stuck together while the covers were defibrating . I saved what was left.

Still, remember i dug this up in the middle of Germany, were even the displayed James Brown Compilation is kinda rare. NO, its not all obscure Jazz Gems around here. At least not for Cheap-O.

The irakere joint is FIRE and Fania stuff is great too (NEVER saw a Hector Lavoe rekkid around here) !

the LP with the little pictures is a Banco de Brasil record, not THAT nice like the Varig joint that posted here couple o' days ago. But still nice piece of music to get your schmoove on.

Please, Please if anybody has some info on that Marc Emory Joint. Lemme know !

Germans aufgepasst: Where's the obscure connection in one of the pix ?

I went through a collection of 7,000 records on Friday that was selling for $1 each. There was a reason why they were all offered at $1 each though... most of it was common stuff. No raers but at a buck a piece I did ok.

    Kingsmen - Up and Away

I don't usually bother with their LP's, but I picked this one
up recently on the cheap, and was pretty impressed with it.
Nice mix of strong originals and decent covers. Great version
    of "Little Sally Tease."

A recent UT article revealed that their last Wand 45 consisted of
covers of obscure UK pop-psych tracks by 2 different artists, Skip
Bifferty and Fairytale! I've been checking for that one ever since.

whole lp is quite good. "find an oasis" and "slow hot wind" are classics.

I've been going nuts trying to remember who else recorded the song 'Trouble'. I recognzed the lyrics as soon as I played it, but I can't recall if it was another 60s band or a garage revival band in the 80s.

    b/w

What are the Skip Bifferty and Fairytale songs that the Kingsmen covered?
