    James Todd Smith?

  • Even if the "Smith" in question had a respectable career, you would think that by '91 the writers and publicists would have been wise enough not to call anybody a "next Dylan" (kiss-of-death related)...thought that went out with Steve Forbert

b, 21b, 21b, 21b, 21I thought your point was that generational boundaries are meaningless because brilliance can arise from anywhere.b, 21b, 21Doesn't that render your cause-effect argument useless? It seems to me your point was not that Barack Obama is heir to post-boomer leadership, or that post-boomer figures will usher in the golden age, but that great leadership can rise from brilliant people no matter the time-period or generation.b, 21b, 21That's what your first quote above says.

We can talk about no blank without blank all day. We can say mostly good or mostly bad things about Boomers. Nonetheless, it is indisputable that Baby Boomers' time has come and gone. President Obama is happening around that, but it's not the only thing. And, of course, the next generation is not guaranteed to make things better, but we are entitled our chance to F*ck up. That requires a lot of Boomers to step the F*ck off. I'm not waiting until I'm 55 to run some shit. If I have to drive by in my Prius and blow Dennis Hopper's Viagra soaked ass off his Harley, so be it.
