So you're brimming over with confidence that our generation will actually do something different/better? I mean, I know plenty of decent boomer age people who have watched in horror as their generation fucked shit up. I think this happens with every generation. I'm pretty damn sure it will happen with mine.

    b, 21b, 21You mean post war?b, 21b, 21b, 21b, 21h, 21b, 21b, 21well the boomers be definition were born post-War; I was referring to their parents. but I don't want to get hung up on the language. b, 21b, 21h, 21b, 21b, 21The Greatest Generation.

b, 21b, 21Man. You are beyond cynical. I am at least happy to have the opportunity to F*ck up things on our own. Are you upset because Waxidermy keeps breaking? Prolly too many boomers crusting up the shit.

    b, 21b, 21Oh and I'm not. I am actually pretty scared.

  • I think the kids of boomers (including me) had to learn to struggle more. Only good can come out of that.

My parents pre-baby boomer generation was called the Silent Generation for a variety of reasons. This was the generation that really realized the prototypical "American Dream" of home and auto ownership. b, 21b, 21Their goal was to make sure their children had all the things they didn't like job opportunities and a college education. They spoiled the heck out of their kids, the Baby Boomers, and the very conservative lifestyle the Silent Generation lived was rebelled against by the spoiled Baby Boomers.b, 21b, 21baby Boomers were the first generation that didn't have to work their ass off...and the quality of their work went down the tubes as well. I'd rather buy a house built in the 40's than in the 70's or 80's, that's for sure.b, 21b, 21And the Baby Boomers raised two generations (X&Y) of folks who have a sense of entitlement that makes their grandparents cringe. b, 21b, 21I'm not about to defend the Baby Boom generation but other than being more liberal and politically correct I really don't see the X&Y Generations bringing anything to the table that will turn this mess around.b, 21b, 21Enlighten me if I'm blind to it.

b, 21b, 21b, 21Apparently it's because they're not their parents or grandparents (who were themselves not their parents) on and on, ad infinitum.b, 21b, 21People are people, no matter what idiotic generational construct that chance has them assigned to.b, 21b, 21If anyone thinks that the current generation is any more or less stupid, misguided or spiritually bankrupt than the last, they need only refer to history.

b, 21b, 21b, 21 b, 21b, 21h, 21b, 21b, 21Really? That's all you got? The Boomer generation that brought us Clinton and Bush, years of partisan polarization and gridlock, and then, by almost every measure, is leaving the nation worse off than when they took control. And you want to talk about reading comprehension. OK. Fine. Let's make them take the GRE to become eligible for Medicare. b, 21b, 21h, 21b, 21b, 21One only needs to take a look at the regression of the school textbook in my English class to know that Jeff is right.b, 21b, 21I dusted off some old textbooks from back in the day. I can't imagine giving these out to the students I teach.b, 21b, 21But that's just my school -- although I wouldn't be surprised if it was like this elsewhere.

  • BTW, I'm glad the Boomers are becoming irrelevant. I've been saying what Fatback's been saying for a few years now.
