    In theory I agree with rock, but in practice... this is not a news outlet, it's soulstrut. 99% of people posting here and all of the moderators want Barack to be elected. I don't think there is any responsibility on the part of this messageboard to provide an unbiased platform for political discourse. However, to deny the fact that there is a double standard is pretty naive.

    Not really related to this thread, but i just wanted to add that while he has my support and vote, I am once again saddened by the fact that both candidates, and especially Obama, have pandered to the AARP vote. I'm pretty sure I heard Obama dance around this a bit, while being sure to stick to his 250k+ pledge. b,121b,121Anyway, this shit about his moms is so f*cking foul. He usually is pretty pragmatic about complex issues, so I am not sure why he is so against the possibilities of increasing the age of receivership (for able bodied persons), lowering benefits (assuming it can be done without putting elderly at grave risk) or requesting more up-front costs where possible.b,121b,121I realize none of these would be preferred, especially for the elderly, but banking solely on raising taxes to fix this problem seems like a rather narrow way to get ourselves out of this mess.
