latency, those free design records will grow on you somehow...like blossom dearie. not stuff i wouldhave been listening to as a young scrappy.
i caught: falconaires with Taurus and 3 breaks shelly manne (never really wanted it, but for 3 bucks, fuck it) roots promo LP do you want more bohannon stop and go (after i almost bought a warped one the day before) esg iron pot cooker ramsey- anopther voyage first new birth (w/honeybee) MOP rugged neva smoothe sealed wu- cream hilltop hustlers 12 phanjam
but the best thing i saw (and heard) yesterday was the bootleg looking thing of wakeup show frestyles with the saafir vs. casual/tajay battle that my hommie caught. saaafir put a hurtin on those folls. ouch
so bad we had to write it on the cover in blue ballpoint pen!
I love this shit (except on really raer joints)...I have a Mingus gatefold LP I got out of a bargain bin where the owner wrote poetry all over the cover and inside of the gatefold, on every available bit of space.
Just recently a local store bought a huge soul collection, a large chunk of which I gladly took of their hands...the guy who originally bought the records had a routine of writing on the top of the inner sleeve (nice! didn't ruin the jackets!) what store he bought it at, and the date & price...it's pretty cool, because the copy of Sly/Family Stone's "Dance to the Music" he bought new, at a local department store, for $2.99 the month it came out...his collection extended way into the 80's, where the copy of M'Tume "Juicy Fruit" was a promo he bought at local sketchy record dealers Nuggets for $4.99 when it was fairly new...it was like having the history of this guy's record collection, and made me appreciate them a little more, in a lame kinda way...
SOI, that is a great idea to write on the inner sleeves. More concrete than keeping a digital log, hah.
Tripledub, I really dig Free Design, Blosson Dearie, etc. Def excited to have gotten that LP for cheeeeep. It was just funny the previous owner decided to make it known that they thought the LP was NO GOOD, hah.

What's the deal with that odd grant green cover? I have the album but with the regular street sign cover.
Who is Kenny Cox?
i think it a late press, never seen this cover either
Jonny, I think you are thinking Street of Dreams, which has a street sign cover,
but Green Street is an early 60s classic Grant Green, which the above pic is a repress from the 70s. Original looks like this:
detroit piano dude
Reggae Soul
Melodica version of Hortense Ellis "Women of the Ghetto"
Calypso funk/disco. Maybe the finest 45 in my definition of the genre. Ok, this and the Wabine 12.
Tune for my beat tape. This is on the same label as the coveted Nairobi Sisters 45.
Modern Ja soul
Funky Skinhead Reggae
Tubby Dubs
and what's his name
K.
P.S. All are for trade/sale except the one on Flames.
As always, K.

AYE-YO!
AYE-YO!
This album has an incredible jazz dance track on it. Prepare your head to know.

I was mostly interested in his 10"...
i am feeling the mellow "june day" track
Uptempo funky skinhead organ "piece" w/ a Chopin cover B side. Would go well will your Winton Groovy funky chikens et al.

Yep, that's the one! Time to get rid of some grant green recs if I can't keep them straight
