A couple of months ago, fredfades (who posts here too) was demonstrating his SP303 for me over Skype. I've never messed with it myself. At one point he fed a beat through its built-in compressor and I was like "aaah so that's what makes it sound wobbly!". I think Madlib just routes everything through that crappy comp with default parameters and it makes everything sound like a record with a horisontal warp.b,121b,121Like many others, I've lost interest due to overexposure. I've got the Wigflip promo lying on the table in front of me now, but I'm not even in a hurry to listen to it.

Yeah beat journey was definitely way ahead of flylo. It's weird when you look at his output before maybe the reset ep, which was all ok, but not very inventive kinda dilla-ish type stuff, and the later stuff. I love the two quasimoto albums & the first beat konducta, but Madlib is really, really, really inconsistent. This probably has to do with his working style.

Flyin Lotus is on some more shit than that dilla tribute song. Thats what its meant to be a tribute not a bite. I thought he reworked it really well. Props to him for doing his thing, but I'm just not a fan of most of it. I think I stopped checking after the first Declaime album.
