"Hello, Canada, and hockey fans in the United States and Newfoundland."b,121b,121Where are you all at? 1SoulOnIce, RAJ, all my Canucks and northerners... Pre-season games have already started and the official season is around the corner. 1I have found myself watching old hockey clips on youtube and just can't wait for hockey to start back up again.b,121b,121Any predictions on who's going to take it all?b,121b,121Thoughts on the whole KHL taking players from the NHL?b,121b,121Brawls in the QMJHL?b,121b,121Teams to watch? 1Teams not to watch?b,121b,121img src="http://www.hhweb.com/images/2002cup/Lidstrom_With_Cup_JPG_small.jpg"1b,121b,121You guys heard it first from me... b,121b1The Detroit Red Wings will be undefeated this year!/b1b,121b,121OK...I keed I keed...but they will win it all.b,121b,121What happened to Pittsburgh? 1They let players go that I felt were part of a strong core. Possibly making salary room for Crosby next year?b,121b,121My sleeper teams: Washington Capitals and Chicago Blakchawks. 1Ovechkin will KILL it and a lot of people seem to be excited out here in D.C. for hockey...which is nice for a change. 1Chicago should be doin some thangs as well.b,121b,121My sleeping teams: San Jose, Anaheim, Phoenix, Nashville. 1Why is hockey even in these regions?1 Bring back the Whalers...Nordiques...Jets...b,121b,121Discuss.

fighting is not going anywhere i like the addition to my team but need to see their chemistryb,121b,121FULL ON CANADIENS MODE for me this yearb,121b,121each match will be viewedb,121b,121what are some of the big trades that went down?

  • The Winter Classic in Chicago got me so excited but my worst nightmare has come true: No, no tickets for the general public. I don't know exactly how they were released but it's practically like trying to score tickets to the Super Bowl. b,121b,121However, look out for the Blackhawks; they finally are starting to get back on track.

I am1so impatient waiting for the season to start.b,121b,121Bruins get Patrice Bergeron back after he missed allb,121of 2007 with an injury - it's almost the same as goingb,121out and signing a top free agent, with what he'll bring b,121to the team1over what last year's squad was like withoutb,121him. After our inspiring 7-game series with Montreal inb,121the 07/08 playoffs, hopes are high for a top 5 finish inb,121the east. I WANT MY HOCKEY BACK. Tempted to get Center Iceb,121again this year - didn't have it last season but I missed it.b,121b,121 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/potatoworthyyz3.gif" alt="" 21

Bergeron killed it in the pre-season game, but yeah, pre-season counts for aboslutely nothing.b,121b,121Which leads me to...Lidstrom getting a puck in the face and that Canadians player getting knocked out...all for a pre-season game? So pointless. I'd rather see them go right into the regular season.b,121b,121I was thinking about going to the Winter Classic but if you're saying tickets are like that....forget it.b,121b,121I wouldn't say many big trades happened this off-season. Hossa to the Wings. Radulov and Jagr went to the KHL. 1I read something where 1/3 of the coaches in the NHL were fired and replaced.1 and...Sunday can't make up his mind.b,121b,121SoulOnIce...is Center Ice that good? Aren't you in Boston? I thought you guys get CBC, so you always got a good broadcast on Saturday nights. At least Barry Melrose isn't on U.S. broadcasts any more...couldn't stand that dude. For the talent that Tampa Bay has...I think he's a horrible coach.

I hope the Oilers will have a good year. They look strong on paper, but we'll see how things play out.

font class="post"1b,121b,121I think they look pretty weak on paper. They've got that kid line (Nilsson, Cogliano, Gagner), which is excellent, but they need Erik Cole, Penner and Hemsky to play well if they hope to make the playoffs. I think they'll squeak in this year.b,121b,121I'm a huge Flyers fan and I hope they storm into the playoffs and take it all the way. They need Gagne to be healthy, and a big season from Briere, Richards, Carter and Lupul. They also need Upshall and Downie to step it up. I'm a bit concerned about their D. That's their primary weakness. Hatcher needs to retire so a youngin' can come up...maybe Sbisa?b,121b,121Early predictions: Detroit in 6b,121Conn Smythe = Marian Hossab,121Art Ross = Alex Ovechkinb,121Rocket Richard = Alex Ovechkinb,121Hart Trophy = Roberto Luongob,121Vezina = Roberto Luongob,121Norris = Mike Greenb,121Selke = Mike Richardsb,121Calder = Steven Stamkosb,121b,121Eastern Conference Final Standingsb,121b,1211. font class="post"1b,121b,121Boston has one line? One thing we do have is depth. We have twob,121"top line" centers in Savard & Bergeron, along with a wealth ofb,121talented wingers in Kessel, Sturm, Kobasew, Ryder, etc. Our D isb,121solid and well-coached. The one weakness is in goal, and while Ib,121agree Manny is the weakest link (he looked awful last night) we haveb,121the "goalie of the future" in Tuukka Rask playing extremely well inb,121the AHL and he may very well be competing with Thomas for the startingb,121job by Christmas. b,121b,121As for my picks, I haven't been following the rest of the league pre-seasonb,121and in this first few days enough to really be confident in my picks, but sinceb,121I did talk shit about yours:b,121b,121b,121b,121 1. Calgary b,121 4. Minnesota b,121 5. Anaheim b,121 6. Chicago b,121 7. Edmonton b,121 8. Vancouver b,121b,121... obviously that 8 spot is a toss-up, especially in theb,121east, where Buffalo or Carolina could easily replace Ottawa,b,121and Dallas could certainly get in again in the west.b,121b,121And for the record, regarding Boston, if they had shown up for theb,121last game of the season against Buffalo (the night after they clinchedb,121the playoffs, and they had a huge emotional dropoff for the Buffalo game)b,121and pulled out a win, that one game would have moved them from 8th to 6thb,121or even 5th seed going into the playoffs. Not that "what if" is worth anything

Kobasew and Ryder have lots of potential, but they're very inconsistent. If they can show up on a fairly regular basis, Boston will be a problem for most teams. Phil Kessel needs to step up as well.b,121b,121Interesting that you have Vancouver in and Dallas out. Other than that, I like your choices for the West. Solid picks for the East as well.
