Regarding the name then the term cratediggers might be used in the US but not many people in Europe nor anywhere else in the world would have a clue what you're trying to do - except maybe if they're deeply involved in hip hop.
Ok serious time from me too: the closed auction thing could be a goer. But you're going to need to really raise the profile of the site, and you're going to have to get some quality records to make people take interest. My advise would be find a copy of Palcebo - ball of eyes to get peoples atention!
Honestly, the best thing you can do, is spin this into a closed (non-ebay) auction site dedicated to records, and records only. People have been clammoring for this for years.

people arent going to auction records off on your site if its not being seen by the people who are actually going to pay high prices for those records.

As for the records.... I found a guy who claims he has some rare records he is selling in bulk. If you want to throw some titles out there - I will be sure to check into those.

well if you or whoever works on your site will be able to build an automated auction system then i would hope that they know css and html as well. otherwise, hire a better dude

I will do my best on the record end - all I can truly guarantee you all is that I will work my ass off to get this site to the level you want it.

Ha, sorry I have no idea, Ive barely ever purchased a record online but there seems to be a few conceptualizations afoot, musta been confused but thats certainly the direction you should shoot for, anything but minty= headache, bad press
