going through these finds and i was sorta wondering if this acetate ever was released as an album, anybody know bout this dude? discography? (yuz i tried google)

Barbour had a minor hit single in 1969 with "Echo Park" (a four-minute spiel that sounded like somebody's answer to "MacArthur Park"). He also had an album on Epic, titled after his hit.

Sure enough, after messing around on the Net, turns out Collectables has a Keith Barbour reissue. But only one of the songs ("Sweet Mary Sunday") shown on the record label shot appear on the CD.

yeah that was the only album i could turn up, and a 7' with eleanor rigby/ alecia (tracks also present on the acetate)... he did some stuff with the New Christy Minstrels before going solo, but i cant seem to find this lp anywhere.. unreleased songs maybe ?

Awesome 45! Just got that one recently myself. I started making a mixtape that starts off with that song and continues along that vibe. Gotta revisit that and finish it up.

yo fredfades, whattup with those Nucleus LP's?

    I minted up on these:

  • How does that Eddie Gale compare to 'Black Rhythm Happening'??

personally i prefer Ghetto Music to BRH
It's the other way around for me. Elvin Jones on drums? I mean c'mon now!

  • I thought that Dreams LP might be cool but so far

    This was a nice find.

blurry picture. but that's UK 45rpm 12" with 3rd Stone from the Sun. It sounds good.

Love that Lost Great Kinks album -- mostly outtakes from Village Green Preservation Society. A lot of those tracks have shown up on reissue CDs since, but for a long time it was the only way to hear em. And as far as performance/arrangement/production go, I'd rank em with some of the Kinks' best (only in their lyrics are they a little whimsical and maybe even slight).

  • Nice finds, you got lucky I was out of town this weekend.

I got to clean pounds of mold from untold numbers of and not so records this weekend. None of which will ever be mine.

I did treat myself to a clean copy of the Electric Prunes Underground though.

For me it changes on any given day. Ghetto Music defitenly has the better cover art though

I always thought that cover was . I have a Great Dane so it just appeals to me all the more.

  • jebus i hate to think about the amount of time spent doing those pictures!

i picked up some cool records this weekend but the highlights were these:

Insane Atlanta-based, McDonald's-sponsored various indie artists comp from 1983 doing some of the rawest boogie cuts never heard. I am serious. There is very real heat all across this record. I will try to post some clips tonight along with other finds.

Did you post the clips yet? I'm very curious about this comp!!

Death befuddles me, but somehow this album still helps. Maybe we should recommend it to Kanye.

[color:blue] When you pass through the fire, you pass through humble
You pass through a maze of self doubt
When you pass through humble, the lights can blind you
Some people never figure that out

You pass through arrogance, you pass through hurt
You pass through an ever present past
And it???s best not to wait for luck to save you
Pass through the fire to the light

Pass through the fire to the light
Pass through the fire to the light
It???s best not to wait for luck to save you
Pass through the fire to the light

As you pass through the fire, your right hand waving
There are things you have to throw out
That caustic dread inside your head
    Will never help you out

You have to be very strong, ???cause you???ll start from zero
    Over and over again
And as the smoke clears there???s an all consuming fire
    Lying straight ahead

    Lying straight ahead
    Lying straight ahead
As the smoke clears there???s an all consuming fire
    Lying straight ahead

They say no one person can do it all
But you want to in your head
But you can???t be shakespeare and you can???t be joyce
    So what is left instead

You???re stuck with yourself and a rage that can hurt you
You have to start at the beginning again
And just this moment this wonderful fire
    Started up again

When you pass through humble, when you pass through sickly
When you pass through I???m better than you all
When you pass through anger and self deprecation
And have the strength to acknowledge it all

When the past makes you laugh and you can savor the magic
That let you survive your own war
You find that that fire is passion
And there???s a door up ahead not a wall

As you pass through fire as you pass through fire
    Trying to remember it???s name
When you pass through fire licking at your lips
    You cannot remain the same

And if the building???s burning move towards that door
But don???t put the flames out
There???s a bit of magic in everything
And then some loss to even things out

Some loss to even things out
Some loss to even things out
There???s a bit of magic in everything
And then some loss to even things out
    [/color]

    Happy Veterans Day.
