OK, but can you at least acknowledge that a commercial flop, like, say, [Ghostface's] Supreme Clientele, can still be an artistic achievement?[/b]

"He didn't even write that album, man," says Yayo, his eyes narrowing.

    What?[/b]

Yayo: "He didn't write it. That kid from Far Rockaway -- Superb -- he wrote that record. You know Superb from Far Rock?"

Man, that's some "you're asking for a serious beatdown" shit talking.

  • I always assumed that 50 was secretly a pretty smart dude, but damn he sounds like an idiot in that interview. good god. I mean jesus christ.

Kindof a bullshit response, but it's kind of a bullshit question (or at least a loaded one). Remember 50 is the target of the final skit on that album, and has pot shots thrown at him elsewhere on it (I think this was over him saying some shit about the Wu on "How to Rob?"). I don't really think him and Ghost are on some mutual respect shit, even now.

Just cause u can write doesnt mean you can rock the mic or have presence.

  • (or at least a loaded one).

True... I did think it was funny that out of all the albums out there he happened to pick that one.

But ghostface and 50 aren't exactly making records for the same audience.

What about the MCs -- Chamillionaire, Ghostface Killah, Master P -- who have said that they're not going to curse in their music anymore, in response to the post-Imus outcry?[/b]

None of those people sell records.

Chamillionaire sold more than a million records.[/b]

Let him go sell gospel records, if he's so fuckin' righteous.

who's talking about presence and rocking?????

i'm just saying, if he's such a skilled ghostwriter (which i doubt he is), how come he doesn't have any classic records out on his own?

like O said, saying such bullshit = instant beatdown

  • It's weird -- people associate me with gun violence, when I was the one who got shot. I haven't ever shot anybody.

    But everybody thinks you have.[/b]
    Why?

Well, you've said so in interviews, both directly and indirectly, and you rap about it all the time.[/b]
That's an assumption; there's no proof I've ever shot anybody.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA....

    oh lord.

  • Well, when I was younger, I experienced being beaten up.

  • And what about rock'n'roll? The guy who shot up Virginia Tech was a Led Zeppelin and Nirvana fan. If he'd had a 50 Cent CD in his case, we probably wouldn't even be talking right now.

He should post on the strut.

  • And who's the leading consumer for pussy on a tape? Middle-aged white men.

The peanut gallery: "White men, yeah. They buy all of it. They're spending way more."

These white men are buying the pussy from the hos because they aren't being sexually fulfilled by the women they have in their traditional lifestyle at home.[/b] And they go outside for the thrills without any attachment, so when they go home, there's no phone number or nobody calling who can ruin their fuckin' lives. So it's understandable why pornography is the way it is. But after all that, why is somebody worried about me saying 'ho'? I make up different terminology all the time. I made an effort to make a reference to a male organ without being disrespectful in a woman's presence on "Candy Shop." If you say "penis, cock, dick," whatever way you want to say it, that's going to be disrespectful in the presence of some women, so I said, "the magic stick" [/b]and "the candy shop" is the bedroom and the "amusement park" is the bedroom, trying to come up with a way to do it where you're not being disrespectful. But those efforts apparently don't mean very much.[/b]

    Thats actually pretty good!

    HAHAHAHAHAHA....

    oh lord.

what a duck. i saw this dude at the "rock the mic tour" and his little intro video was a cat who looked like em singing new york new york and then it stopped abruptly and a large animated handgun appeared and fired two shots... BUCK BUCK!!! and 5 thousand screaming 13 year old girls lost their minds! he ended every song by looking into the camera with his dead, shark eyes and firing a fake shot into the audience ending each cut with a BLOAW!

yeah, i wonder why he's associated with gun violence. what a herb.

The peanut gallery: "Nobody even cares what he does." "Who's listening to him, anyway?" "That was the '90s, B. Kids don't even know Ghostface anymore." "The streets are different now," says Yayo. "Guys like Ghostface don't matter. They don't. They had a run, but it's over."

True. Excellent interview by 50. Thanks for posting!

    Are you being serious?

  • The correlation he draws between album sale percentages and violent crime percentages is classic!

Are you worried about the state of the music industry and that hip-hop record sales are down 30 percent from the time of your last record?[/b]
You know what's interesting to me? If we're selling 30 percent less records, then really, what's the problem that people have with us? Why isn't the violence down? If we're that fuckin' influential, you know what I'm sayin'?

Violence should be down 30 percent?[/b]
Yeah, why isn't the violence down 30 percent? Ask that question in your article. I'd like to know the answer to that!

I thought it was a great interview -- or, at least, Fifty had a lot of interesting things to say. Not that his cultural thoughts are completely original, but his quotes on Oprah, porn and the music business were all pretty on point.

wasn't a bad show. i didn't know snoop was gonna be there. it was just surreal that all these little girls screamed and cheered when all there was was handgun firing on the screen. kinda bugged if you ask me.

I just heard the majority of the new album and it's pretty fucking great. It's pretty grimy - which is a big big relief. And when the fuck did Ghost say he was done cursing?

    You dont get it son.
There are a gang of reasons/possabilities why he doesnt have an album/mixtape/cameo.
Does every great street baller make it to the NBA? Ghostwriting doesnt equal career.
I have a friend who busted his ass trying to get a deal but has settled for writing for LiL Kim.
Some cats are content behind the scenes or dont have the hustle to get beyond that level.
Ghostwriting & Buying Beats has always been part of the game.
