I don't really collect anything purely for the sake of amassing a collection. I obviously collect records, but only because I like to listen to them. I buy more books on food than I should, but I don't especially care about which edition I own. I suppose I collect scotch (poorly), but only because I love drinking the stuff. I guess I'm lil dude.
My company is moving into the building directly opposite the New Balance corporate headquarters in Boston, and sharing many of the same facilities. We might end up getting a discount. If so, I'll holler.

Its really interesting, even though I enjoy modern cooking (books and magazines) more. And odd kitchen appliances that I will someday use. At least I convince myself that. Especially if it is made of bamboo.

Nah, I'm the same way. My collecting habit is a subset of my enjoyment of the collectible. Love music? End up collecting records. Love good bourbon? Well, let's just say I collect one bottle at a time. I still have comic book and baseball card collections back at my parents house, but again, those are the result of reading comics and loving baseball.
Frankly, I think that's what it's really all about. Procuring something for the enjoyment it brings you. But I guess that same logic can be applied to people who collect things for the satisfaction of simply having them.

1. COMICS[/b] I was always a Marvel fan, and since everyone was into the X-Men, I got into [B}Alpha Flight[/b] and Excalibur[/b], and anything that was a slight offshoot. I also collected Marvel stuff that I knew wouldn't take off, but figured it would be interesting years later to say "I had that". It would be interesting to see what's out there now, as I haven't collected in almost 20 years.
I did like to collect mini-series, and I would occasionally go into the DC world for a few.
2. POGS[/b] I wasn't a big collector of these when the resurfaced in the late 80's/early 90's, but what I did want was pogs which featured the schools I went to, certain foods I ate, restaurants, etc. They didn't have pogs when I was growing up, that was from my mom's time.
3. MAGAZINES[/b] I'm slowly tossing out a lot of the magazines I have in storage, at least now I can scan what I want and recycle the rest. I did collect "Giant Robot" for awhile, but I'm behind about two or three years. Need to catch up, that's essential bathroom reading. Right up there with Hustler's Taboo.

VINTAGE STEREO/AUDIO GEAR[/b] I guess it would be more useful to have a decent studio or a listening room, so getting into that will wait for awhile. Show me some stereo porn, and I'm all goo-gee.

Sega video games (Dreamcast, Sega Saturn and Sega CD) and after a while found many great and rare titles at my thrift spot, actually I found the games even before I got my Sega Saturn.
Cassettes but not as much as I used to. Still if I see a cassette that is worth buying still cop em.
Cassette players...got into this bad for a while. Had a few Sony models, Toshiba, Panasonic/National, JVC, no name brands. Had so many broken ones so even more reason to keep buying.
Car Stereo ish...amps, subs, different speakers and whatnaut from early 90's late 80's. Shit is expensive but I see plenty of cheaper things at the swap meets to balance out.
