i find lot of black jazz kind of snoozy. but hten again, im no musician and just want to hear music with the rhythym section up front.
the song "revelation" is amazing though
he covers are works of art.
how is "plenty good eaton"? heard it once, longago, and didnt really like it. did i miss something?
haha but seriously, ive always wondered what was slated for BJ13?? or did they just skip unlucky 13?
not on BJ, but damn right, that version of Kush is great. Just listened to that on Saturday, in fact.
I also like that bass line off the Gene Russell that tripledouble mentioned.
Co-sign. Most of their recordings were in the spiritual Jazz tradition, not a style that really catches my attention.
That being said I have all the BJ releases, plus a couple of the Ovation releases, which was the company that eventually took them over.
I'm partial to the Henry Franklin albums.
