Web servers/ web design

Can someone please direct me to a reliable web server I can use to host my site (hopefully w/ reasonable prices).... a good web designer (someone who could help with up keep also) reference would help also. Thanks in advance.

    Depends what you want to do. As far as a webserver most people don't need anything more than what GoDaddy will offer.

    Web design and upkeep isn't always cheap if you want it done right.

    ok Imma check out godaddy... the server that I currently use is always down..... I need for the site to be redesigned I am not to paticular on the upkeep thing I could possibly manage that part myself or whatever.

    I'm about to move 5 or 6 sites to Dreamhost. They increase your server capacity every week or something. Mad cheap if you can pay a year or two in one go.

    Godaddy kind of sucks. I designed my mother's site and she uses them. Their website and customer service are not very user friendly.

    Startlogic has been pretty good to me. Cheap with lots of space/bandwidth.

    Dreamhost starts with 170Gigs and goes up by a gig a week

    True but for $4 a month on a reliable server you can't beat it. If you really need a lot of tech support they're certainly not the people to go with.

    www.websitesource.com is decent as well. 1000 pop mailboxes, unlimited domains, etc. for $7 a month.

    I'm in the process of transferring my domains over from bullshit directnic.com.

    The last straw was dealing with their absolutely craptacular email service. About a week ago I had a day I couldn't get any email whatsoever. Even when it's "fixed" I get a load of smaller problems.

    Bandwidth is a big concern for my sites (not because I get millions of hits, but because they're media intensive), so www.streamline.net do the job very nicely. No bandwidth limits.

    I was with MediaTemple for a few years - very good service (excellent tech support), but I was getting crazy additional bandwidth bills. 34SP were cheaper, but weren't as good.

    Bandwidth, Drive space, and Database support... all you need. Oh heavy streaming support for Flash is a nice add on
