A crazy week for records from SoulStrut/Waxidermy -
almost all of these are from set sales/offers, except
the Coulter & Moacir Santos, which were local:

    Thanks to S*mon, Jere*y and Cli*ton ... the Dug Dug's, Orient Express, & Fela
have been killin' it - the sales hook-ups on here are outta hand.

Also, thanks to A*ron for the long time want on
the Maggie Thrett ... Ike Quebec is from Stereo J*ck's:

These are all 45's from the local quarterly record show today:

Some heat - Myddle Class is a sick Dylan cover with raw reverb styles,
and the Popcorn Wylie is a psychedelic soul joint about "Rosemary's Baby!"

And the LP's from today's show, around $30 total:

Kool & the Gang S/T is unplayed in the shrink OG - for $8, that
made finding the WLP "Live at the Sex Machine" right behind it
for $5 just the icing on the cake!

  • jiminy crickets SoulOnIce is killing it!!!

...man, a dealer setting up at a show, bringing in a Kool S/T in that condition, then putting $8 on it.... *headscratcher* well, damn. glad a strutter found it first!!

    where was this show?

Was this stuff at that G*r**** Pr********s show?

    2 part question,
2nd question, if yes to above,
Was M**e from Maine at the show this round?

Honestly, I don't know the answer to either
question - the show in De*ham was the same people
that always put that one on, and I don't know who
    M*** from Maine is...

Oh, you do know who he is, though perhaps not by name.
He's the guy who calls everything "killer", and will grill you about Black Sabbath at the slightest provocation.
Always shows up with at least 20 re-ish copies of P.O.Z.

    super nice finds though.

  • Oh, I just noticed the "What It Is" part - I only saw
the Saadia set listed at first ... oops ... well, that
shows me what a sweet set that is - I wonder if people
are going to try passing off some of these new legal
repros as OG's on eBay, hmm? Are there any really
    obvious markings on them?

tho i havent held the reissues, i do believe jazzman did sneak a mark on the reish labels to make them different...

yes ... and the popeye theme played (what is it ... a kazoo?) at the end is crazy ...

staple! I've been using this precious little box since I was 17. problem is, I can't find replacement memory cards for it! the only cards I've been able track down have the opposite corner cut and are too big memorywise to be compatible... let me know if you've found a connection for the outdated memory.

  • past couple weekends combined here. only thing from the bay is the grupo bota (kindof a letdown). the rest are local spots and the flea.

batacumbele is the shiiiiit! always find it for under $5 too.

K&D isn't normal find post material, but it was $.50

And this Abeti record is totally worth the 4 bucks, last time I found the first press with the pic cover also for $4. Both times at respectable shops. Why is this record not sought after at all?!? Am I crazy for loving it?

Nice 45. This one is off of his "messenger man" LP, and was covered by the clash.

I love the song but I've never seen the label before and google is coming up blank.

why must i go to work crying?

If these are the monkeyhouse shows, that $8 kool & the gang is the best thing I've heard of coming out of there lately. Even before I moved, so pre-2003, they were really dry. A real crapshoot and dealers asking way too much. I did get a few goodies there the last time, like archie shepp & the family, but I had to pay.

I know M*ke, he is farout. he has a ton of prog and hard rock goodies, that he doesnt want to part with. ask him about his days snortin speed in detroit.
great records, but you gots to deal with a slightly unbalanced owner, who loves his records more than you.

Monkeyhouse does their shows in Woburn now -
this Dedham show has been run by the owners of
the godawful Randolph Music store for years ...
although, many of the dealers are the same and
yes, just like Monkeyhouse, there are not a ton
    of scores to be had.

There is Ha**ey with all the 45's, who does all the
shows in NE and always has at least a few gems in his boxes
("everything's half price if you can use it") - and a couple
of other reliables who will have a few good LP's for
good prices (the guy I got the Roadmaster from
usually has a bunch of heat, but that was it this
time - still, mint for $7 is a steal) and a few
wild cards that will show up now & then.

The dude I got the K&tG from is always there, and is
clueless about the value of soul/funk - he's the guy
that had the mint promo O.V. Wright If Only for Tonight LP
on BackBeat for $20, Don Covay See Saw white label
for $10, etc - he's a nice enough guy, and 95% of his crates
are crap, but I make sure to check him early for goodies like
    those ...

The Saadias have a little Jazzman logo on the label but I don't know about the What It Is ones, the only original I have is the Wilson Pickett & I haven't compared them yet, probably only the licensing info on the outer rim of the label which is generic to the set is the only real obvious diff.
