True, but if you drop GURUs entire name in a post, it should also contain the phrase "lyrically lyrical with the lyrical bluntz".

i dont remember where i heard that but
that really is the most overquoted line in internet rap history.

Is this the Jadakiss reference? I feel like somebody else said this around the same time.

    SoulStrut classique!

If only someone could have endeavored that Stronjay graemlin. That would have been the icing on the cake.

  • probably something by the huggable, lovable, overweight-lover Heavy D. kid n play get referenced a lot for their soft-titled "aint gonna hurt nobody". old school rappers weren't afraid to look soft.

It's Akon from that song with Eminem.

Considering that "Dwyck" and Chi Ali's album appeared in the same year, how likely is this? Seems like a coincidence.

Man, I forgot how "Don't Curse" was like the "Symphony" of soft-batch cameos. The jail house outfits? OOF!

    And Pete Rock's verses were...uh...uh...yikes.

This is an interesting. I'm so used to hearing the remix of "Funky Lemonade" that uses Guru's vocals I just assumed DWYCK was first, but now I'm listening to the OG version with the "cool in the shade drink a little lemonade" scratch, so who knows?

That line from Guru always seemed random as hell.

    Talking:
Here's a little bit of old school for ya,
That goes a little something like this...

I always tried to be the flyest kid in the block
The popular one with the rising stock
So that's when I had this bright idea
Throw the party of the month
Nah, the party of the year

All the fine girls couldn't turn it down
Now all I gotta do is get my parents out
Should I send them to a movie
    Nah, send'em to a show
    Let me think, hmmmmmm
    It's gotta be long though

I said Mom, Dad, yo why ya sittin' home
It's a Friday night have you seen Aunt Joan
And don't worry about stayin' out too long
Don't fuss over me, I'll be fine alone

    (Beep Beep)
    Have a good time...

The door bell rings cuz the party's here
I'm crankin up the stereo like it's New Year
Walkin' 'round the house like who's Da Man
(Can't nobody do it like Aaron can)

First one on the floor, you know that's me
Bustin' out the moves like it's MTV
I guess somewhere along I lost my head
Then I jumped on table, this is what I said,

    People all around you gotta
    (Come get it)
    Everyone together sing it loud
    (Come get it)
    Jump all around come on
    (Come get it)
    What...
    (Come get it)
    Say it again
    (Come get it)

    People all around you gotta
    (Come get it)
From the left to the right, make noise
    (Come get it)
Here we go now, come on
    Uh uh what what

Na na na na, Na na na na, Na na na na, Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah

    Things are goin' great
    Then to my surprise
Some people walked in, I didn't recognize
I said fellows yo, ya gotta get out

(Hey man I heard this was an open house)
    Open house?
(Yeah that's what the flyers said)
    I didn't put out flyers!
    (Well somebody did)

    Later walked in
    The girl I'm crushin'
    And the kid spilled juice
    On my Mom's new cushion

    I turned around
    Another kid broke a lamp
    (I hope they weren't expensive)
    They got them from France
But now I won't sweat it
    I'll clean it up later
'Cause there's a honey over there
And I really wanna meet her

    People all around you gotta
    (come get it)
    Everyone together sing it loud
    (come get it)
    Jump all around come on
    (come get it)
    What?
    (come get it)
Say it again here we go, uh
    (come get it)

    People all around you gotta
    (come get it)
From the left to the right, make noise
    (come get it)
Here we go now, come on
    Uh uh what what

Aaron C's in the house, here we go
    Come with it
    One time for the Rodeo

    Break it down
    (go go go go go...)

    ****(now the real trouble starts)
    Is that a car door
    Oh dang I'm in trouble
    Everybody get out now
    On the double
I'm dead (your done) that's it for me
I'm gonna be picked off my family tree

Once Mom finds out 'bout this party I had
I don't wanna even start thinkin' about dad
    I'm hustlin' around the house
Tryin' to clean up the mess
I sure put my new white Nikes to the test

    The car door slammed
And they're walking up the steps
I guess life was good with 10 seconds left
    (AARON!!!???!!!)

    Grounded. . .

    People all around you gotta
    (come get it)
    Everyone together sing it loud
    (come get it)
    Jump all around come on
    (come get it)
    What?
    (come get it)
    Say it again
    (come get it)

    People all around you gotta
    (come get it)
From the left to the right, make noise
    (Come get it)
Aaron C's in the house, come on
    (come get it)
    Uh uh what what

    Na Na Na Na....(fades)

Best ever...don't know why they cut this segment from their year end roundup this year but i imagine they were too busy inexplicably riding nu-jay-z's dick

She gets a glimpse of Shawn and she likes that
He 2-ways her, so she writes back
Smiley faces after all of her phrases
Either she the one or I'm caught in The Matrix

Ha ha this was a truly wtf moment when I first listened to the album. Dropping references to the matrix in a track about a strip club in 2006 is brilliance.

It's possible. I don't remember what time of year it was when Chi Ali's album dropped but call me skeptical: I just don't imagine Guru, sitting around, rolling White Owls with some thugged out Bed Stuy types, listening to Chi Ali rapping about the roadrunner and lemonade and thinking, "I'm about to go in the studio with Greg and B tomorrow...maybe I should drop some shit about lemonade in my verse... Hey Dap! Quit hogging that blunt son, take two and pass!"

Probably just a wild coincidence that lemonade had a banner year in '92. After all, it was a popular drink and all.
