That first Freddie Foxxx 12" w/ Primo, although the angry old man schtick became tiresome quickly

YOU GOT A BETTER CHANCE OF KICKIN DOWN A TREE WITH NO LEGS

When my lovely girlfriend and I were dating long distance I made her a tape full of songs about New York (HEY!!! that's original!) where I crossfaded from Jim Croce's "New York is Not My Home" into "Part of My Life" into Bob Dylan's "Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie."

Samples from this tape have made it into our relationship lexicon, and have provided hours of delight for me. Inevitably, when we're cooking anything that involves eggs, she'll randomly scream, "Doin a handstand on TWO EGGS, motherFUCKER!" Or if a friend bails on plans we've made, she'll say, "He probably start saying his throat hurt, his moms is sick with a bad knee."

So funny. Thanks Bumpy for all the laughs.

If there were no instrumental on "Tried By 12," I'd never have bought it. Their rhymes really did not do that beat justice.

That beat was weak. I've smelt cocksnot that had more umph.

what am I trying to think of.. is it Kamachi "Unusual Styles?" Is that it?.... fave of that era.

  • this album is still the shit

    THE END IS NEAR

    Holy. F$cking. Shit.

    You are NOT joking.

I mean, I actually LIKE rap and I thought that album was garbage. (The 12"/EP prior to that album was nice, though. As was their appearance on WLIX, which, by the way, is a beat that deserves it place in history.)

Yep. This album is trash. Is the rapper named WildChild? He's gotta be one of the worst MC's ever.

Did they put out anything besides Tried By 12?

There was another 12" w/ different rappers on it... it didn't really make an impression on me.

the only impression it made on me was when the dude tried to spell 'brooklyn' in his verse and said b-r-double-o-l-k-y-n

Predictably, this thread deteriorated into "name every 90s underground 12" that you can think of" rather quickly.

what do you expect from a thread that starts with a lootpack bigup?

All the good ones I can think of have been named already--"Day One" was a great one, that I can't believe I forgot.

I'm saying the list needs to be edited down--not added to--at this point. A lot of the things people are coming up with now belong on the "late 90s underground rap records that turned you off of that whole scene" list.

I'm not sure if he was even being serious with that.
