My girl's mom brings the illest beans back from Costa Rica. Don't remember what they're called but its the only coffee I'll drink straight (no homo).

  • I once heard about beans that are collected from some animals shit. Can't remember what it's called though.

MONKEY POOP MAKES THE BEST COFFEE
Rich coffee lovers are going crazy for a new kind of coffee, made from the
coffee beans that have been through the alimentary canal of the Indonesian
monkeys. You can get a cup of such coffee in exclusive American cafes for
five dollars. Mark Mauntanos, an importer of this expensive product
advised, about 230 kilos of this coffee is delivered to the world market
during a year. Experts say, the people of Indonesia have known such a
drink for hundreds of years. They noticed that the monkeys, which live in
the palm-woods in Sumatra and Java eat coffee beans, but do not digest
them. The Europeans, who studied the nature of the most developed apes
stated that they selected only the best coffee beans, which went through
    their intestines undigested.

    thar she goes

  • i used to be a heavy cream and sugar in my coffee kind of dude but recently ive gone with drinking straight black coffee. you definately can taste the subtleties in different blends etc.

i use the percolator and rock peet's coffee major dickason blend and grind them beans right before i drink. peet's is a bay area thing i think.

werd...you can do peet's mailorder...and they have it in some specialty shops here in Brooklyn but it's definitely w/ a West Coast import tax...something like $13 a LB...yikes! best shit tho imo.

Had some when I went to stay with my dad in Indonesia, beans that have passed through the system of a campung cat.

He didn't tell me till after I'd finished the coffee.

    It was well nice.

    I had more.

Ahem. Stumptown is the more like the indie darling of the coffee world.

I've been thinking about placing an order here:

    http://www.caferebelion.com/catalog.html

I've heard it's delicious and you really can't beat the cause (unless you're Dolo Yeung, but then your blood pressure would be too high for coffee anyway).

Had it in Portland and haven't stopped ordering it since.

  • There's no point in anything else.

Is this available in stores outside of Oregon?

    The label looks cool...

I'm really not sure how far their distribution extends, but you can order it here:

I'm not a die-hard coffee aficionado, but living in the NW certainly gives me access to a variety of great gourmet coffees. Stumptown's coffee is dark, smooth and one of the tastiest I've ever had, and it's available nearly everywhere here in Portland. There was an interesting article last fall in a local weekly about the booming Portland coffee scene. You can read it here:

I just can't get into Starbucks.
Issues of taste, ethics and price always make me go somewhere else.

I'm stovetop percolator (sp?) all the way. Makes a much better, hotter cup than a plunger.
