What's the story on the Madlib/Talib Kweli record?

There's a link for a free download on the Stones Throw website: http://stonesthrow.com/It's about 9 tracks ad finished cover art and Blacksmith logo - they're just giving it away? They have no faith in the product? The beats sound like some of Madlibs best since Madvillian - but of course yo have to sit through the Talib rhymes - but all in all it's ok?Between this and the new Mos Def record fiasco (whats the real story behind that anway?) - what the hell happened to the Rawkus records golden boys?IMG SRC="http://www.fritzthacat.com/somers/images/press-shots/blackstar.jpg" WIDTH=700>

    the whole download for free thing i think stems from when madvillian was leaked early, it made the record the number one selling unit out of there catalog. It was actually huge promotion for them instead of digging out their pockets. shit even i got the bootleg then a week later got the wax. PNB wolf mentions it last months remix. I think this joint is okay, but is pretty weak considering who these guys are. Funny money is though.

    I was really trying to enjoy this but I just wasn't feeling it. I'm not complaining cause the price is right, but Talib's flows just sound so awkward to me. The beats are tight though.

    It's interesting that a leak could help a smaller label, and hurt a larger label.

    I just listened to this all the way through. I'm kinda feeling it - kind of a laid back chill record. Nothing amazing, but not nearly as bad as what people are saying on this board.

    Don't get me wrong though - Talib does get annoying.
