What? You can't handle the fact that Brown wasn't the most upstanding gentleman at home? You mad at the women who admitted Miles Davis beat them too? Maybe you think Tina Turner's a stupid bitch as well.

  • maybe he did beat her...thats not the point: she;s trying to tarnish the mystique of man she says she loved and making charges that he can't defend himself against. this whole interview smacks of bitterness and desire to get revenge and create sympathy for her cause. i wonder how much she was paid for this...the comaprison with tina turner is sophmoric at best

Whatever - you think a single negative interview is going to suddenly throw Brown's legacy as a musical genius into the toilet?

Your ass hurtness over this is sopho[/b]moric at best.

Btw, I think Tommie Rae's a few eggs short of a dozen but if she wants to out Brown's dark side at home, so be it. Unless it comes out that Brown was sacrificing babies or something, I doubt anything she's going to say will make much a difference. Most people knew that Brown wasn't an angel in his private life but they've managed to understand that private vs. public personas are not always easily reconcilable.

It was well-known, while JB was alive, that he didn't treat her right. The Onion even parodied it!

Yeah - I mean, it's generally well-known that JB wasn't exactly Mr. Upstanding Dude, not just with Tommie Rae but in general. I don't know why folks gotta act like he was some kind of saint just b/c he died. As noted, his legacy as a cultural figure has been minimally diminished by all this. Brown can take it (since he sure dished it out, it seems).

exactly - I read the tabloid article today and wasn't surprised in the least - she said she didn't hit him back incase she hurt or killed him

You can read the article the way the writer wants you to. Or you can read it critically.

What I read was a story about a man who was old and tired, suffered from diabiates and arthritis. Still he went out night after night and worked as hard as he could, knee drops and splits to the point where he couldn't get out of bed the next day. I don't think that will hurt his reputation as the hardest working man in show business.

I read about a band leader who didn't treat members of the show differently just because he was married to them. She still had be as professional as the rest of the band if she wanted to sing.

I think she is being treated unfairly after living and working with him for perhaps the hardest 9 years of his life.

My guess on why she wouldn't talk about his drug problems is that she is at the center of those problems.

His estate is going to be messier than Jimi Hendrix's, who was also said to have died broke. His estate was controlled by lawyers and shady music industry types through a series of blind off-shore holding companys.

Yeah, but this is the Daily Mail. For those of you lucky enough to be unfamiliar with this hateful rag, James Brown is the kind of person their readership would probably consider to be not much more than "an uppity n****r". The fact that the Mail has a very strong claim to be the true voice of Middle England depresses me, as an Englishman, enormously.

Can't be that bad if the King of Anglia reads it? "Gonna read Siiiimon Hefeeeeerrrrr on the verandaaaaa. Ain't no-one gonna stop meeeeehhh" (spoken in the style of John Wayne)

Actually I think he's more of an express man: "arguably the best newspaper in the world"

    Exactly.

Look, we are all hugely indebted to JB for his musical legacy. And we all mourn his death a whole lot. But is it really coming as a surprise that in terms of personal relations, JB was a dickish control freak? Nothing Tomi Rae says is going to "tarnish the mystique" any more than the many other stories of JB's lousy behavior that are already commonly known.

Ture. Plus I think his lawyers, and children are treating her worse than he ever did. At least he loved her.

Here is a spider hole. If I'm right his other wives, both married and "road wives" were Black. Rae is White. Does this have anything to do with her being escorted to a back pew and being locked out of the house? I think money and greed are the main factors, but I wonder.

i never said it would or could tarnish him, but that seems to be her intetnion.

  • aside from the whole of the content as to whether or not he beat her or whatever that's some sleazy tell-all shit to do. Shee needs to and leave out the hateful gossiping type of shit (e.g. viagra comment) and focus on the stuff that is real news, like the whether he beat her or not. Which IMO isn't really that newsworthy either, but I pretty much never want to hear shit about celebrities anyway. And I think the the 24-hour healing period for the splits was intended to be a diss then she achieved the opposite vis-a-vis "hardest working man."

it was pretty easy to tell it wasn't a high-class paper from the poor-ass writing and interminable repetitiousness.

I kind of suspect that was the previous wife--the white lady that died on the operating table while having surgery to make herself look more Black.
