I'm surprised no one on here will go to bat for older Fat Joe at least, I mean I figure post-"We Thuggin" the 'becky haters' would have bailed but someone else gotta stick up for the "Shit is Real" (Premier Remix)
Here is where I reiterate that late 90s Relativity > late 90s (any other NY label)

Fat Joe was NEVER a good rapper,he only got hot beats for his 1st 3 albums.
I checked the Fat Joe album and its decent, even good in parts. Definitely better than his last one. Not something I'm going to be rocking all year or something though.
Surely you jest. He had one good verse in his entire career, and it wasn't even on his album.
And please miss me with that, "But 'Sugar Hill' is a classic!" I'd rather listen to the Juicy 12" and his verse from "Life's A Bitch."
Are you just being contrarian now? "City of Gods" "The Format" are fire if you're looking for specific tracks. I'd actually say most of my favorite shit he's done has been recent - his first solo isn't all that great, but starting with Aziatic I've really started to get into his shit more. (9 Lives is his worst record though)

Whats really good is that AZ album.

Go ahead and flip that Sugar Hill 12" over, Ross, for Rather Unique was IMO quite nice.

Of course to the kid that cut dope and, never got nauseous Cooked coke on the comeback, never took losses With one rap got rich off a "Life's a Bitch" chorus That Jigga shit, nine-six, sittin with bosses "Dead Presidents" see, represents we are all as one, the call has come to Gods "Street's Disciple" discrete, but it be's just like you Never off beat, stay in heat {?} Spiteful, no religion, no facelifts no small incisions No cases pendin though I got dawgs in prison Reckless livin though, rest is like the Mets in them extra innings Hope niggaz respect my dealings if not Hope not then I, catch no feelings When you start hearin niggaz left, stressed in buildings Cold killings old villains now surface seein In yo' vicinities enemies circlin to sin Praise I, unfold the untold like +De La+ No +Soul+ since 12 summers old stayed high Weed conniseur, then rocked designer du'jours Arman-ah, my persona was raw No flaws it's federal fucker the cells is tapped No calls from a double due been to hell and back So know yours cause I could never just, sell you raps This is my life laid on wax
OK I'm listening to this finally and it's pretty dope, beats are solid, good album. My only problem with it (aside from the extreme dick riding/name dropping the Game provides) is the fact that he sounds like he's trying too hard to sound like Dre on the mic (especially on the song where he's saying "I'm the new Dre" which makes no sense whatsoever). That shit is weak. But this album was put together well.
oh and might I add that he really butcher's Vida Guerra's name on that track with Kanye. "Ass took her to the top like Vida Guererra"

I'll go to bat for older Fat Joe's beats. But Fat Joe? Pass.
Please be serious; "boring" is a substantial step up from straight incompetent.

Fat Joe is nice, and has a dope sneaker collection.

True, but that was, what, 11 years ago? And he was still recycling that one verse, wasn't he?
I heard a track or two from the new album and it just bummed me out.
