What is that movie with John Candy and Steve Martin called? I can't really remember what it was all about, but I remeber it was one of the funniest movies I've seen. They both tried to get back home for Christmas and had to share a car or sth, because all airports were closed.
some Woddy Allen movies are comedy classics. well, at least more funny than Ferris Bueller.

Now, I thought the movie was funny. But #3 funny... NO
... but then again I'd argue for 'Happy Gilmore' and 'Weird Science' to be included too.
The biggest suprise for me was Team America at 39. For me that film is easily on a par with South Park the movie.

and the pussys, dicks and arseholes parable among other highlights. The sex scene usually has me close to pissing myself, and the puke scene is funnier than all of Police Academy + Four Weddings & A Funeral put together.
this list is slightly better than the last one posted (maxim?), but is not without it's flaws. and it's way too british for my tastes.
The british public really need to get over Gregory's Girl. If you have to put an eighties gritty brit comedy in there please ignore that piece of whimsy and go for something like Rita, Sue & Bob Too instead.

I caught Raising Arizona on TV over the weekend, and caught Fargo a couple weeks before that. I don't know which one of those three should make the cut, but the Coen Brothers need some represenation on that MF. Shoot, a case could even be made for The Hudsucker Proxy or The Man Who Wasn't There -- I know the Brits appreciate that subtle style.

Meet the Parents wasn't really funny at all. A couple good lines from Owen Wilson, but that's about it.
Funniest Stiller movie was Zoolander - which to me should definatley be on the list.
This list however, shouldn't be paid any attention to.
I just saw that Beverly Hills cop eeked in there in the low 40's. Granted its no Police academy but it has its moments
also kinda sucks that only one really funny movie was made before '55.
the first 50 years of film making were some solemn times.
It's too bad Charlie Chaplin, WC Fields, and Preston Sturges weren't around back then...

I'm no expert in this category, but Le Magnifique is great. It runs a little long, but the first 45 mins are a must see.
A movie about a middle age guy who is having sex with a high school girl made a few years before it was revealed that the middle age guy who made the movie was having sex with a high school girl.
I used to like that movie, but it is far to creepy for me now.

It was a viewers vote poll, so it makes sense that older films, foriegn films, and smarter films did not make the cut.
Full Monty was funny first time I saw it. The second time it was a depressing film about out of work industrial workers.

Agreed on both of these films. My theory is that Gregory's Girl was only a hit because people fancied Clare "Happy Birthday" Grogan and the film was shown in cinemas alongside Ghandi. And frankly, after sitting through 3 turgid hours of Ghandi, Gregory's Girl seems like a fucking genius of a comedy.
I'd add As Good As It Gets to the list despite how annoying Helen Hunt and her on-screen mother were.
-it's voted for by the public (online I think, although I'm not sure) so there's bound to be some rubbish in there. And, the more recent movies will always get a disproportionately high vote. (if you really want to see how wrong they can be, you should check out the greatest singles, or lps, show, that???s made by the same people.)
-the majority of English people would have probably never seen a foreign language comedy film.
I don't think anyone's taking it that seriously, are they? Just re-reading this thread and there's no outrage or anger, just folks saying what films they do and don't like.
