  • Another warning: "black dahlia" is fuggin terrible. I mean so bad you just can't believe it. Every actor/actress in the movie must have taken some drug that made them suck.

Example Hillary Swank line: "I think you'd rather fuck me than kill me." Aaron Eckhart & the other lead are both boxers who are named "fire" and "ice."

Cheesy to the extreme, and crosses a line where shit just does NOT make sense any more. It's not a good film noir. The script is piecemeal and the pieces of the plot just don't fit together. For one thing the entire movie is not about the black dahlia murder. Even "brick" kicks this movie around the entire block.

Took the words right out my mouth....

    That shit was unbelievably horrible.

How DePalma could fuck up a movie like this is beyond me.

    Very disappointed...

Oh well, Jackass 2 and Borat come out next week. I'm stoked!

surprisingly, 'crank' was pretty good as far as action flicks go
i'd recommend watching it twice if you have seen more than one zach braff film

related note - i haven't seen a film in which amy smart doesn't get railed. sorta like a young pretty maria bello

Saw it yesterday and I'm still reeling-- it was staggeringly, mind-blowingly awful.

I admired a few of the tracking shots, but the only other good thing I can say about it is that it made me realize again how good an adaptation "L.A. Confidential" was.

  • Zach Braff was looking for Garden State II but this schitt was just tepid. Can't hatt on Rachel Bilson though, lol.

Garden State was incredibly tepid, self-indulgent crap. Also, I'm annoyed by Braff's hair.

that true. however, Method Man's cameo was hardasfuck.

"raise your hand if you saw some tittays today"

  • Seriously, though, I don't think those girls want a guy that's particularly good-looking--they want somebody to make them feel special.

As someone who is "not particularly good looking" and gets the "amazing guy" tag alot, they mostly just want you to bolster their self esteem enough so they can finally get someone better.

Hey, i'll take what I can get

  • watching its privileged young people fret over the the banal soap opera of their protected lives made me want to don a bandana and join a gang of socialist revolutionaries.

Not sure about revolutionary, but I do agree that lastnightsparty.com is very social:

And though it may be dated, here is some timeless advice about The Funky Bandanna.

Bandanna makes men hip-hop like. It makes ladies appear like diamonds.
Chigozie Ezewudo, a student, says she has invested much in bandannas. "They are the funkiest item in my wardrobe this season."

But to get back on topic: I watched half of GARDEN STATE several months back and turned it off in utter disinterest. I don't think I'd ever been that completely unengaged in a movie though my unsuccessful attampt to watch PARIS TEXAS last week came close.

L.A. Confidential was completely ruined for me by the horribly unnecessary, extended John Woo shoot out at the end. At that point it just became another Hollywood action flick. Boo hiss.
Black Dahlia was a disappointment to be sure, but I also think people are quick to attack DePalma regardless.
I think you either love him or hate him. I also think I'm the only one I know who actually liked Femme Fatale.

It's not as good as some Wim Wenders, still, the mere presence of harry dean stanton in Paris, Texas is enough to piss on garden state from a great height!!!
